Forest Hills Cemetery just landed a much sought-after spot on the National Register of Historic Places, and to celebrate they want you to spend Saturday night frolicking in their boneyard. To draw in the cemetery-loving masses, the lush 250-acre burial park offers an evening of tombstone-related fun, beginning with a slide show about Pere Lachaise Cemetery, outside Paris, an inspiration for the design of Forest Hills. It's also one of the coolest cemeteries on the planet, considering that big names such as Frederic Chopin, Edith Piaf, and Doors lead singer Jim Morrison are all buried there. Local photographer and historian Susan Wilson shows slides of these famous headstones (above and below), while the Riverview Players offers its take on the music of Chopin, Piaf, and the Doors. The show takes place in Forsyth Chapel and is followed by a flashlight tour of Forest Hills Cemetery with Wilson. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. The flashlight tour begins at 9 p.m. and is free with the purchase of a concert ticket; $8 without a concert ticket.![]()
