The saxophonist's final recording, posthumously released, is a major statement, a summation of his career, and a program of music that celebrates life. Its urgency, its immediacy make it the jazz album of 2007. Brecker was the most influential saxophonist of his generation, and "Pilgrimage" is the climax of his entire body of work.
