1000Pirates

Apple founder Steve Jobs once told his early Apple employees it’s more fun to be a pirate than to join the Navy. Now a group of Boston entrepreneurs is about to put that maxim to the test — a second time.

The second annual 1000Pirates cruise is planned to set sail on Oct. 5 from Boston Harbor, with the hopes of helping entrepreneurs connect without the interminable banalities of typical networking events. The cruise is being organized by Rentabilities and setting sail along the Harbor aboard the Provincetown II.

Monster.com Jeff Taylor will once again be DJing (more on his musical career).

Last year’s event reportedly sold out, and featured start-up founders, advisers, and, if rumor is to be believed, an actual pirate.

The timing of the announcement couldn’t be better, either: Sept. 19, 2012, is, of course, International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Brush up on your pirate-speak at the event’s registration page. Tickets are $11.54.
