Hubway

A visualization from Ta Chiraphadhanakul calculated how much time commuters saved when using Hubway versus walking or using public transportation. The interactive graphic was awarded best visualization by a team of judges.

From an infographic that details Boston’s romance with Hubway to analysis of how much time the service saves commuters, the winners of the bike sharing service’s visualization challenge offer a lot to look at.

The Hubway Data Challenge invited graphically and technically savvy enthusiasts to help analyze and illustrate over half a million bike rides, and Tuesday night the winners were announced:

— Overall Best Visualization: Ta Chiraphadhanakul

— Best Aesthetics: Russell Goldenberg

— Best Data Narrative: Eurry Kim & Kaz Sakamoto

— Best Data Exploration Tool: Andy Woodruff

— People’s Choice (user votes): Latif Lokman

— Honorable Mention to a Boston Latin class: Eric Simoneau

The visualization from Eurry Kim & Kaz Sakamoto is truly poster worthy, and many of the others really help provide a feeling for the rythm and flow of biking Boston. Take a look: I’d love to hear about your favorites via email (michael.morisy@boston.com) or via Twitter at @HiveBoston.
