Iron Mountain buys storage facilities in Wisconsin, N. Carolina

Iron Mountain Inc., a Boston company that offers data storage and management services, said Wednesday that it has bought two additional data storage facilities, one in Madison, Wis., the other in Wilmington, N.C.

Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

Iron Mountain has nearly a thousand such facilities around the world where documents and data can be stored, backed up, managed, or shredded. About 675 of those facilities are in North America.

In adding to this network, the company’s press release said that Iron Mountain had acquired assets from records management firms Datastore in Wisconsin and Data Technology Services (DTS) in North Carolina.

“We welcome the customers of Datastore and DTS and are committed to providing them the highest level of service for their storage and information needs,” Harold Ebbighausen, president of North America for Iron Mountain, said in a statement. “Having storage facilities in these markets enables us to move with greater speed and efficiency, and that’s good for us and our customers. Acquisitions are key to expanding our presence in both new and existing markets, allowing us to drive growth and returns on invested capital.”
