Japan Airlines cancels its Jan. 30 round-trip flight between Tokyo and Boston

As Japan Airlines continues to adjust its schedule to compensate for the grounded Boeing 787, the airline is canceling its Jan. 30 round-trip flight between Tokyo and Boston.

The airline will continue to operate its other daily flights on a Boeing 777 between the two cities, with departure times delayed by about six hours on designated days.

The 787 aircraft that normally serves the Boston-Tokyo route were grounded last week by the Federal Aviation Administration after several battery fires, including one at Logan International Airport.

Service was canceled out of Boston for two days and resumed on Friday, the Globe reported last week. Japan Airlines has seven 787s out of service, and the delays and cancellations are a result of the airline rotating in other aircraft to cover the schedule.

On Jan. 30, Japan Airlines plans to resume its Tokyo-San Diego service, which has been cancelled since the 787s were grounded.
