Local banks are closing early because of the storm
A number of banks in the Boston area have announced they’re closing branches at noon Friday, including Eastern Bank, Bank of America, and Boston Private Bank & Trust Co., due to the snow storm.
Boston Private also plans to close its downtown headquarters office at 1 p.m. Friday, following Governor Deval Patrick’s urging that residents stay off the roads this afternoon.
Bank of America as of 11 a.m. said it was closing all Massachusetts branches at noon, except for Cape Cod and Nantucket. Branches also will be closing in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and parts of Maine, according to spokesman T.J. Crawford. The bank is posting updates on its Facebook page and on Twitter.
Eastern also has been updating employees and customers on its Facebook page and on Twitter, and said that for the safety of colleagues and customers its branches and call center would close at noon.
