Dean of MIT School of Science joins Bruker board
Bruker Corp., Billerica-based maker of scientific instruments, announced the election of Marc Kastner to its board of directors, replacing Charles F. Wagner Jr., who stepped down from the board in the summer in order to become Bruker’s new chief financial officer.
Kastner is Donner Professor of Physics and dean of the School of Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Kastner is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellow of the American Physical Society, and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Bruker press release noted.
“I am delighted that Dr. Marc Kastner has agreed to join our board of directors,” Frank Laukien, Bruker’s president and chief executive, said in a statement. “He brings to Bruker’s Board an incredible breadth and depth of insight into the ever-changing frontiers of scientific research, and their technological and health care ramifications. Moreover, Marc is very knowledgable about the latest trends in science policy and scientific research funding priorities. Finally, Marc has extensive leadership and management experience at a truly eminent and global academic institution.”
In a separate press release, Bruker also reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2012 financial results.
