Matter Communications, a public relations firm based in Newburyport, said it has acquired the Hollenbeck Group, a small PR firm based in Portland, Ore.
One Matter client is Lexar Media, a company known for storage products such as memory cards for cameras and mobile devices. Lexar has offices in Fremont, Calif., and other Matter clients also have operations in California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington state. The Hollenbeck acquisition will allow Matter to grow its West Coast presence.
Financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed.
As a result of the acquisition, Hollenbeck founder Kent Hollenbeck joins Matter as a vice president. The acquisition brings Matter’s headcount of full-time employees to 63.
“After a thorough analysis of West Coast options, it was clear Portland provided the best combination of characteristics important to our business,” Matter founder and CEO Scott Signore said in a statement. “Portland’s central location gives us easy access to important markets like Seattle, the Bay Area, and Boise; there is a burgeoning tech scene in Portland itself, and the city has a focus on craftsmanship and doing things right that meshes perfectly with Matter’s culture and approach. By acquiring the Hollenbeck Group, we have established a foundation of great talent, connections and existing clients from which to grow our West Coast presence.”
Other Matter clients include Harris Corp. and Verizon Wireless. Chris Reidy can be reached at email@example.com.
