Dunkin’ fetes royal heir with a princely Munchkin
The baby boy of Prince William and Kate Middleton has yet to be publicly named, but the young heir is already being honored by Dunkin’ Donuts with a fanfare of Royal Munchkins.
And not to be outdone, Dunkin’s sister chain, Baskin-Robbins of ice cream fame, is unveiling a “Baby Shower Cake.”
One reason why the two chains are so quick on the draw may be that their parent company, Dunkin’ Brands of Canton, is headed by British native Nigel Travis.
In 2011, for example, when Prince William and Middleton had a royal wedding, Dunkin’ paid tribute with a baked-goods salute.
And now the company is bringing us Royal Munchkins and Baby Shower Cake.
According to a company press release, the Royal Munchkin is “an old-fashioned Munchkin donut hole treat gently dipped in pink, blue, and white sprinkles representing traditional new baby colors.”
As for the Baby Shower Cake, it’s “designed with precious baby booties and can be customized with a person’s favorite combination of Baskin-Robbins ice cream and cake flavors.”Chris Reidy can be reached at email@example.com.
