Avid readers, you will understand. Given only a minute to talk about the books you plan to read this summer is like asking an avid World Cup soccer fan to discuss the matches in that little time. Last night, I did just that for WGBH's "Greater Boston" show with Emily Rooney. The taping went well and was fun. We were at the beach, after all, on a warm, cloudless day--and no humidity, to boot. But my to-be-read pile is stacked higher than the one in this segment. I have so many more books I plan to dive into this summer.

Here's the segment, plus a list of a few more books I would have loved to mention on air. (I appear in the 2.5 minute segment at the beginning, followed by an in-studio discussion featuring local authors Amy MacKinnon (Tethered), Holly LeCraw (The Swimming Hole) and Stephen McCauley (Insignificant Others).)

Bonus Titles

  • Always from Somewhere Else: A Memoir of My Chilean Jewish Father by Marjorie Agosin
