    Favorite (and excellent) album titles

Two ways the title is excellent in your opinion:

    1.  It truly fits the tracks on the album -- theme, emotions, overall content.  A well-crafted title in terms of content.

    2.  The title is truly unique, amazing, nasty, you name it.   Gives you a kick, has a connotation, is simply fun(ny) or any other reason you feel it's a standout.

I'm basing the inspiration for the thread on the following album title, and will start simply with:

"Infinite Arms" -  Band of Horses

For me it's pretty hard to top the titles for BOC's classic early albums:

    "Tyranny and Mutation"

    "Secret Treaties"

    "Agents of Fortune"

    "Spectres"

    "Fire of Unknown Origin"

So much mystery and darkness in the titles, and the music lived up to the titles.  The cover art completed the package.

Great point re: cover art that works to convey the overall theme.   While I like the titles of many of my newer CDs, the artwork is nothing to shout about (understatement).

Now, of course you know every word of Fiona Apple's album title by heart.

    Forgot about that one.   :P

    A few various faves:

    "Grace" -- Jeff Buckley

    "Nevermind" - Nirvana

"Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" - Alanis Morrisette

"Exile in Guyville"  - Liz Phair

"The Book of Secrets" and "An Ancient Muse"  -- Loreena McKennitt  (the album titles could not be better suited to the content; the artwork is also stunning, right down to the artwork on the actual CD)

Great titles for hard rock/metal albums, where the music lived up to it:

    Black Sabbath "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"

    Judas Priest "British Steel"

    Def Leppard "Pyromania"

    G N R "Appetite for Destruction"

+1 for sure - when it came out, I wondered if the title was an attempt to one-up the Stones' Goats Head Soup.  Apprarently I wasn't old enough at the time to pay attention to (and understand) Dr. John.
