Number of Times?

There's no telling what time this thread will show up, but here's a fun little trivia thread for a well-earned Friday.

Which of the following musical geniuses has been married 7 times?
Does anyone really know (and not making a wild guess) ?

Who among them has been married the least number of times?
If you really know, then please give the actual number.

Ben Folds
Steve Earle
Joe Perry
Jeff Tweedy
Bono
Roger Waters
Eddie Vedder
Thom Yorke

You likely have angered p-mike by listing Bono as a "musical genius."

I don't know the answer, but just wanted to say hello on this wonderful Friday!

Re: Number of Times?

Slim,
Since you saw it documented, yes, it's Steve Earle.  I read it, too, after he was mentioned in so many threads, and knowing he had married Allison Moorer not long ago, and had a new baby not long ago, too.
I thought, hey, this guy is a bit old to have a new baby, so his wife must be a heck of a lot younger, and that's when I saw his bio.   I was flabbergasted, but hey, he's a musician.  He must not like being alone.  :D

But you're right ... no tellin' how long his union with Moorer will last.  I hope it does and wish them the best.

Any other takers?

NOTE: Folds has been married 4 times.

Booyah.  I handed this one to you.    =)

Know anything about his partner?  There's an interesting fact about her (that I happen to know).

I know she's an artist of sorts.  Printing or something.  maybe a teacher too?

Well, yes, that's part of it.  Very good.

She has a PhD, something along the lines of art history and print making.  I just think that's noteworthy; she pursued her own educational goals and aspirations.

So what about Merle Haggard?  Bad reputation or what?

Cool stuff, I figured he'd be into intelligence.  I know they met at college, Exeter University, which I thought was pretty cool because it's not everyday that a musician with as much success as him doesn't succumb to the pressures of the road.

As for Merle, he seems to enjoy that rep quite a bit.
I had to go look it up for the current numbers on Haggard.   He's only had 5, and one of those was a repeat. I remember Peter Guralnick doing a chapter on ole Merle and it was a strange one.  He was assisting in the wedding preparations with one of his ex-wives.   I'm still on speaking terms with my ex,  but I don't think I'd take to anywhere near that extreme.
Posted by SlimPickensIII
An interesting note about Merle (at least to me), at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass this year I was watching Merle and Kris Kristofferson with a guy who had actually been in San Quentin with Merle.
