    RIP Donald 'Duck' Dunn

He died Sunday at the age of 70 whilst on tour in Japan. His work is heard on many a soul and R&B track as he was a session player at Stax Studios in the 60's and 70's, playing the bass whilst smoking his trademark pipe.
He is probably most famous, however, as the bass player for the Blues Brothers band, as he also played the part in the movie.

RIP Duck Dunn. Key bass player for a key band that backed so many of the great soul singers. Also a key member of one of my favorite instrumental bands of all time, Booker T. and the M.G.'s. Big loss to the music world.
