Two belated birthdays (one day apart): Stevie Wonder / Steve Winwood

Couldn't help but notice (wish I'd posted on time, sorry) that two esteemed artists, one English, one American, had birthdays one day apart (and two years as well), in May.

    Same initials, too.  :)

    Steve Winwood : May 12, 1948

    Stevie Wonder :  May 13, 1950

Stevie Wonder had his first hit at the age of 13, which might (barely) explain why it seems he should be a lot older than 63 at this point.    As for Steve Winwood, he's created a veritable who's who (Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith ...), with a trail of hits, successes and adoring fans to the present day.

Give em some lovin'.    Happy Birthday to both Steves -- and many more.

Any favorite songs / albums for either artist?   Weigh in.

It took me forever to figure out the name of this song -- it's one of my all-time favorites, too.

Also:  Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing  (on the Innervisions album)

Nice choices from other posters, too.

Something I've absorbed from our discussions is that when an artist has as lengthy a career as Stevie Wonder, there are bound to be highs and lows, and some hits that have been way over-played.   But that's okay.   On the whole, his catalog is amazing.

I didn't know this (didn't see the film), but apparently "Silver Linings Playbook" used a SW song somewhere in the film, and it shone a light on Stevie Wonder with some young viewers who don't know much, if anything, about him.  Not a bad way to find out about an artist and discover his talents.
