I 'm a big fan of Lee Chen on 114 in North Andover. Great food always fresh. Very nice people. I'm also a big fan of Chinatown in Stoughton.

Tsangs on the South Shore in Hanover has the best in Sushi, Shashimi and a wide variety of Chinese dishes. The Rainbow Maki is my favorite. For the South Shore they can't be beat.

First off, chicken teriyaki, pork fried rice, crab rangoon & low mein are NOT Chinese food. Second, once you actually eat Chinese food you simply can't stomach the swill that we get at typical "Chinese" places in the US. This year, my friends and I will be enjoying some Guizhou dishes here: http://www.thebeijinger.com/directory/Da-Gui

Ah yes Pan Asia AKA Rainbow Dragon from the OFS people, great crab rangoon! The service has dwindled thru the years as they have been cited for serving minors, and even served a baby once (totally the parents fault but called for a good media frenzy), but with those violations they had to fire their best bartenders =(

[QUOTE]Pan Asia in S. Boston.  The best Crab Rangoon ever!!! And their scorpion bowls are not so bad either.

Re: Your favorite Chinese food in the Boston area?

There is no single Chinese restaurant that provides sufficient quality and taste of all items for my pleasure...

    Is it just me?

Seems there's always one place that has the best chicken fingers, which is down the street from the place with the best bonesless ribs.

Then it's a fifteen minute drive for the best fried rice, but at least I can pick up the tasty lobster sauce on the way back home from the joint across the way.

But the lo mein is too greasy there, though, so I'll wait until I want crab rangoon and go to my favorite place around the corner for those.

Mulan Taiwanese Restaurant, 228 Broadway, Cambridge, MA, 02139 is great. Much lighter food than is usually found around here. And they understand "no msg".

Peach Farm in chinatown, Boston, is OK.

In Newton:  Mandarin Cuisine on the Newton/Needham border on Needham street can't be beat!

In Framingham:  Lotus Flower.  It looks like a cocktail lounge from outside, but inside is Chinese food that is easily three cuts above most Chinese food.  The Plum Duck is to die for, and they have a beautiful buffet that is NOT cut-quality buffet food.

In Cambridge:  Changsho!  It is part of the same restaurant family as Lotus Flower, and I don't think they do a buffet but otherwise the quality is also superior!

Bunch of silly answers. I guess you can't argue with someone saying their local hole in the wall  or overpriced trek is their favorite, but places like Bernard's,  Kowloon, blah, blah are mediocre at best.

I have several favorites (in no particular order):

    Chinatown (Stoughton)
    Golden Temple (Brookline)
    CK Shanghai (Wellesley)
    Bernard's (Chestnut Hill)

Every meal I've eaten at all four of these restaurants has always been good if not excellent.  I definitely recommend the ribs at Chinatown and Golden Temple.  The Chilean Sea Bass at Bernard's is excellent (along with pretty much everything else).  The General Tsao's Shrimp at CK Shanghai is not to be missed!
