RIP Eugene Polley

I honestly didn't know where to put this but where he is a big name for TV I figured I'd put this here.
You probably don't know his name, but you do know his invention. Back in 55' it was packaged with the ritzy version of the Zenith. It didn't become cheap enough until the late 70's/early 80's for the average home.
I am, of course, talking about the remote control.
Mr. Polley died on Sunday at age 96.
And, yes, it can be argued that he also invented the millions of couch potatoes out there. In any case, however, even for someone as old as me who remembers having to get up to change the channel, it's hard to imagine life without the remote these days.
