I'm feeling sleepy now.  Second load of wash in the dryer and I'm going to climb into bed with a book.  Hope that does the trick.  Sleep well amber!

Whoops!  This was from 45 minutes ago in the March thread.  Happy April Fool's!

    Good morning!

mm, I didn't mean to imply the venison version is savory - I've only had the actual meat version as a dessert, too.  It has the same spices and ingredients as the apples and raisins, but instead of the fruit, it's shredded venison.  I love it, but I'm from Maine and grew up as a little child not knowing the fruit version even exisited.  Like so many things, it's all what you know and are used to.  The first time I ordered minced meat pie and got something without venison I was, uh, curious as to where the meat was in my minced meat pie.  LOL!!

Ambergirl, glad to hear you had a lovely day with your friend.  Sometimes that "high" keeps me awake later than usual.  Yesterday, maybe you were up anticipating it?  I do that, too.  And, I'm glad I have Gracie because I talk to myself all the time, but on our walks I look at her so it looks like I'm rambling away to the dog. ;)

Gracie has given us a huge scare.  She got up from her bed to go to the newly lit stove (she never fails after it gets going!), and she was LIMPING HARD on the leg that had not been operated on.  Oh, no...we both thought she'd torn the other leg.  But, it appears very much like a strain or sprain (what's the difference?) so we're both breathing a little easier today and will keep her off it awhile and pray for continued speedy healing from a "nothing" injury.  OMG.

    Tea kettle is whistling!

Hello to everyone unmentioned, too. :)

    Re: April chat

Looks like Gracie pulled an early April Fool's joke on us - she's hardly limping at all today, and I know the aspirin is long gone from her system.  We'll keep her quiet for at least the next couple of days, but I'm 99% sure she didn't tear the other knee.  OMG, my chest was tight thinking about it...DH's too.  She could barely stand up, let alone walk, last night.

    Re: April chat

    Good morning,

What a bonanza for me this morning!  Yah!  Sorry for your sleeplessness, ladies, but thank you.

Beautiful sunny day, haven't put the TV on yet (just got up a few minutes ago) so don't know how warm/cold it's going to be.  That sun is welcome anyway.  Getting up during the night I didn't have a bone that didn't ache, back, leg, thumb, it was the atmospheric pressure change, I'm sure.  Was bragging not too long ago how I don't have any trouble with my back/leg any more - the Gods must have been listening and said "We'll take care of that -"

Thawed some stew beef out yesterday but it was frozen so solid never got to make a stew or stroganoff out of it.  That will be dinner today.

If it warms up enough, may go out and do a little raking - that's a thought only - probably will remain just that unless the temps soar.

I hope Gracie continues with no limping, Kargiver.  Like us, she may have just laid wrong, or "the change in atmospheric pressure" may have gotten to her, lol.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Re: April chat

Well, Amber, we don't go to bed here until 11:30 or 12 on a regular night, so I generally check in on the chat some time around that.  Usually not much to read at that time.

On Saturday nights I watch RI PBS - two shows I like very much starring an actor called Martin Clunes - Doc Martin and William and Mary.  In fact, I watch Doc Martin 3x/week - Tuesday on NH PBS, Weds on channel 44, and Saturdays!  Love it!  It became the most watched show on any channel in San Francisco.  It's set in Cornwall and the scenery is gorgeous.

Good morning ladies, Glad I didn't bore you all with all my posts. So happy Hats and MM were around. Finally fell asleep around 4:00 and back up at 8:00. Learn to just go with it. Will take a Tylenol PM with a glass of milk tonight. With work tomorrow can't be up all night. Kar it is truly insomnia, I have company quite often or I am out. Love my friend dearly but I don't get too excited. Now if I had a date.... : ) my Herald hasn't arrived yet. Called them and the truck was 2 hours late. I only get weekend delivery, so not happy. Going to finish my cuppa and keep reading Hunger Games. Almost finished. Have a great day everyone!

    Re: April chat

Too bad you're achy, tt, after a long pain free stint.  Enjoy the sun, but if you could, please send some our way?  It's cloudy and probably just over 32 as I can see the frost melting on the shed.  62 in here, but the fire is doing its best.  Our menu isn't planned yet, but stew or stroganoff sounds delish.

Gracie is definitely still better than she was last night, but is still stiff when she gets up, and she walks gingerly.  If she improves overnight as much as she did last night we won't have to even take her to the vet so you can imagine how quiet we'll be keeping her.

It's Palm Sunday, and DH has Good Friday off (although, work calls it "Spring Holiday") plus he's taking Monday off so we're heading for a 4 day weekend.  Makes this one coming to a close less sad.  Haven't heard from SIL about Easter; I should call her today and find out for sure, but I'm betting our not hearing means she found out she's got to go to her in-laws and isn't relishing telling us.

ETA:  Ambergirl, sorry you suffer with insomnia - it's a difficult thing, debilitating sometimes.  Good you could get a solid block of sleep this morning.

Kar, happy Gracie is ok. My heart would have stopped! Hats tv is boring late night here. I have HBO and Showtime but only in my living room. I will keep in mind to check out PBS in the future.

    Re: April chat

I still don't have an actual head count for my Easter dinner either, Kargiver.  Could be anywhere from 2 to 7 plus me.  One thing for sure, I know I certainly will have plenty of desserts!  I know it's hard for my DIL to get a definite answer from her dau - they are a "fly by their pants", last minute couple, and so their children.  Hoping at least little Lilly bug comes with them.  She'll enjoy the egg hunt and little nut cups and the bunny village set out.

Hoping there are sales on Cheerio's foods this week, down to 4 cans of F.F., and I dumped the last of the kibble out to give her last night.  She's pestering me this morning looking for her few pieces she usually gets to top of her wet food.  Doesn't seem to understand (or care) when I tell her the container is EMPTY.

ETA:  9:20 and no Globe here yet either, Amber.  Maybe their church services fell during the time they usually deliver?

    Re: April chat

I don't mind spur of the moment drop ins and such, but for Easter dinner?  I hope they either get back to you soon, tt, or if not, at least will bring a number of dinner dishes so as not to spring a dinner for 7 on you.  My SIL is a planner, but is probably putting off sharing the "bad news."  We won't mind - you have to be where you have to be, and sadly that can't be two places at once!

Heaven help us if we ever run out of any of what Gracie usually eats for any time at all...oh, my, the crying, the whining, the wailing.  You'd think she was on the edge of actual starvation.  GL with finding a sale, tt!  I try to find our piggy's food on sale, too...it's so expensive, and she eats 2 1/2 cups a day.

Ambergirl, our hearts DID stop when we saw her get up and not be able to put weight on her leg last night.  We both gasped.

tt, make that 8 coming..... : ) I know what you mean about Cheerio not getting empty. Boi will follow me around like I have it hidden in my pocket. Kar, are you kidding me with the Spring Friday???? I am off because of the stock market but it is Good Friday in my office. Don't get that at all. We don't change the names of other religion Holidays. Oh, never mind.. forgot it is a Christian Holiday. Being sarcastic but really tired of the pc police. I have been saying Merry Christmas for years now. Feels so good. Ok, rant over : )

Good morning all.  Sorry about your insomnia Amber.  I take a Tylenol PM every night.  I get up so early for work, I just need to be sure I'll get some sleep!

Pingo - thought of you today at S&S - they have fresh horseradish root for $1.49/lb.  Weren't you looking for that?

There was a production delay in the printing of the newspapers this morning, but I finally just got mine, so I bet you should see yours shortly.

Have a great day everyone . . don't fall for any April Fools Days jokes!

I used to call the boys and play April Fool jokes ever year, but stopped somewhere along the line - guess I ran out of funny (not to scare them) jokes to play.  Their senses of humor have changed over the years anyway.

Cheerio still hangs over her empty dish, no sound, just mournful eyes looking up at me as I walk through the room -

Happy April 1st everyone....the sun is shining here and there appears to be no wind, maybe its warmer than I think as I sit here gazing out the window.  Went to Foxwoods on Thurs. and had a horrendous experience with my oxygen tank, has a full tank with me, went to turn it on and nothing....had a couple of security guards try and move the switch for me, nothing, the emt looked at it, then used a regulator (?), found what I thought was a full tank was an empty one, I felt so bad I wanted to cry, had 3 hrs before my bus left and without my oxygen there was so way I could walk around a smoke filled casino.....good thing I brouhgt a book, I went and got a coffee and a pastry and spent the time I had left jus sitting.....couldn't lose any money, but couldn't win any either... I'm planning on 15 for Easter....I'm going to make lasagna....the girls will bring the dessert and salad.  Take care everyone. ss

    Re: April chat

If you have pain and sleeplessness, of course the PMs are great.  But, for those of you taking Tylenol or Advil PM only to get a good night's sleep and you don't need the pain reliever part of it, did you know you can take good ol' Benedryl instead?  It's the active "PM" ingredient, and if you aren't in pain the other part of the pill engages your liver for no reason, especially Tylenol...not the best daily supplement if you don't really need the acetaminophen itself.

Guess I'll make falafal for lunch today so I better get on the ball.  It takes longer than I think it should every time.

Quarter to eleven and paper just came.  Now to search for cat food sales, and then start the stew meat I thawed yesterday.  Opening the door, it felt warm outside, a nice day.

SS, not sure why I didn't see your post before adding mine, but I'm so sorry you had such a time at Foxwoods.  A book and people watching weren't on the original agenda, but I hope you had fun, anyway.

Warm?  Good to know.  I'm on my way out to the grocery store, too, tt.  GL with the cat food being on sale!
