I wish both sides of the partisonship would stfu for a little bit. Everyone has their opinions based on their life experience. And sadly most people, liberals and conservatives refuse to listen to the other side even if there are good ideas.

I thought the speech was right down the middle. What did he say that was so liberal or conservative? This two party system only creates division. We need to start looking at things from our own opinions but with an open mind towards ideas that will really work not towards 'red or blue' ideas.

It amazes me how people's true colors really come out when not speaking face to face.

Why all the bickering? How about a little respect for and from both sides? How about not judging from a red or blue standard but by actual observation and facts?
Um, actually most Pundits and Republicans think he will. All the articles I read about the political future of the GOP is focusing on 2012. That's why I said it the way I did.

If you consider the last few presidents, Eisenhower, Nixon, Regan, Clinton, and George W. all were given second terms. It's more common in today's politics.
To assume such a blanket statement would be, at best, poor thinking. Reagan, Clinton and Ike were well liked. Nixon ran against McGovern, George the younger ran against Gore and Kerry. A second term is always a good possibility since incumbency is a big edge, but please.

President Obama begins the first day of the first presidency X2 - he must clean up the massive load of the failed bush presidency while executing his own excellent vision to repare and re-energize America.

As a partisan liberal, even I realize that the times demand consensus to solve problems. Despite the foolish comments I have seen it this thread, I can only hope that the coservatives and other RW'ers take a deep breath and walk away from ignorance and hubris and take hold of the fact that you can support this president without giving up your views. If only they give up their foolishness.

"If you want to choose positive emotions you should accept those who disagree and ask that they join and try to make this country one again."

Good point, I was rather nasty wasn't I? But I never understood, nor will I ever understand where the hatred for this man is coming from. And it's hard to be ration with them but I'll try now.

pauloz, please, tell me why you think our country sucks. Because it voted for the candidate you didn't like? Why would you choose to a path to remove him from office instead of listening to him, or giving him a chance? Why wouldn't you just support your local GOP representatives in making sure they oppose any of the president's plans you disagree with? It is easier to work constructively towards a positive goal than tear something apart.

Who else wants to have an Open Cirlce meeting to resolve our conflicts? I'll make "Yes we Can! cookies!

"A hysterical charade, fueled by hype. B. Hussein Obama will prove to be one of the truly worst presidents in US history. In a couple of years we will all be longing for the good old days of President Bush.

This is a shameful and disastrous day for America."

Is there any explanation other than outright racism to refer to him as B. Hussein Obama? Why do you feel the need to focus on his middle name? Do you think that makes him muslim? Even if he was muslim, would that make him unqualified for the job? I thought we were a nation of religious freedom, not hateful bigotry and fear mongering.

    Pauloz,

I'm glad you have a belief however, who are you to judge anyone that doesn't think the way you do? Really, think about it, why are you so angry? Because you think you're doing all the right things but you come off as miserable.

Why not drop some of the judging, let your God take care of that, and enjoy life? It's too short to be so bitter and it's quite foolish to be so closed minded.

    Happydem,

Why are you so caustic? Sure, I can understand that you might disagree with liberal views, with Obama being elected president, etc. But why all the bitterness towards other Americans wanting to live in a better country?

No one is talking about Utopia here but we are talking about coming together to change things rather than all the arguing that has been going on for quite some time.

Without a vision or a goal where will we end up? Arguing with each other instead of getting things fixed.

Try to lighten up a bit, no harm in disagreeing but why rain on everyone else's parade? Seems a bit juvanile to me.

To those old farts and miscreants intimidated by "Hollywood" and the beautiful people, by youth and charisma, crawl back in your lairs and bore your wives with your whining and faux macho posturing. You're too dumb to know you've been raped for years and your only hope for fixing your plight is through some form of watered down socialism. Consider it charity form your intellectual superiors and just be grateful you'll be receiving it despite your whimpering. Admit it, you're all worse of by far than you were when the masochistic relationship began with Bush 8 years ago. Look in the mirror and be honest, for a change.

Work to get what you want, that means getting off your butt and making a difference. Whatever happened to the American way, which in this case should mean "my guy didn't win, shucks, ok, let's see what we can do to help out the new guy"? That's the America I want to be part of. I guess a whole lot of people out there are going to be disappointed when the world doesn't end. By the way, PaulOz, if you don't have a uterus, you have no place in the abortion debate.

I think Alberto was trying to be funny by quoting back the words that have been shouted by Bush's supporters for the last eight years, i.e., if you don't support Bush, if you question his policies, if you question the war, then you're un-American. I saw plenty of bumper stickers telling me, not asking me, to "support President Bush and our troops". I didn't support Bush because I disagreed with many things he did, which included violating the Constitution. For that, he lost my respect.

Why can't the people of this country realize that it really doesn't matter whether a policitian has a "D" or "R" after their name, there are very few honest politicians that have "we the people" in their best interest? Democrats and Republicans have been equally at fault in enacting policies that have slowly destroyed this country. Until we stop electing the same people that practice "politicis as usual" we will never see real change in this country. Optimism and hope will not solve our problems. Only strong and just action will.
