How to find a Mother's Helper / Babysitter

Thanks to Miss Lily's post I know what to do if I don't like a babysitter :) But my question for this thread is, how do I find one?
We currently have a babysitter we use for evenings that is a teacher at my DD's daycare, but we might need some help for daytime too.
The scenerio would be that I would likely be working from home and need someone to care for my infant and toddler so I could do my work. It wouldn't be an everyday thing either, just once in a while.
Is sittercity an appropriate resource for this type of scenerio? Do babysitters for daytime typically have a time minumum (i.e. 4 hours or more). What are common rates?
As always any helpful insights are welcome and much appreciated! Thanks!
