Bruins getting Rookie of the Year

Not only will Hall/Seguin (whoever the B's get) be RoY next year, he will probably have the best stats for an offensive rookie in quite some time.

Normally when a player of this caliber gets drafted, he goes to a really crappy team, part of the rebuilding, and they get him in place, and build a team around him.

We're getting a player who is stepping right on to a team that (in all likelyhood) just got into the conference finals (or better). There is already a powerhouse system built up. All the supporting staff is not only already there, but already cohesive as a unit just waiting for him to step in.

Think about it, imagine if Tavares had stepped into the NHL with Savard feeding him instead of Marc Streit? His numbers would have been insane.

Whichever the B's get, it's going to be something special to watch next year!

Here's the key to this pick: Will the B's throw him to the fire like they did with Bergeron, who came through extraordinarily for his age. Or will they coddle and protect and nurture the player the way they did with Joe Thornton. It's hard to tell what approach is better. In both cases, they essentially worked.

So if the Bruins draft Hall he would be rookie of the year for the Bruins but if Edmonton drafted Hall he wouldn't be rookie of the year for them?

    HUH??

Yeah blueeyes, I actually understand what he's saying -either one will thrive on the Bruins with very little pressure, but if they go to Edmonton they get buried trying to drag up a crap team.

I disagree. The bruins are all about system play. A rookie will not be given free rein, to run all over the place trying to rack up points.
If a rookie is able to manage close to 20 goals while learning all the defensive responsibilities, he will have had a very good year.

I hate to be somewhat of a negative nancy, but the B's have A LOT of guys to re-sign after this year in order to put a similar product on the ice next year...

Also, whether it's Hall or Seguin, the B's can bring him in and put almost no pressure on him to perform because they're already a great team...

Unlike any other team picking in the top 5, the Bruins can afford to let Hall or Seguin develop and get better at their own rate...

Still driving for the Cup and bringing in the 2nd pick next year...not bad...

Rask is still a rookie next year I believe, so yeah, we will have the ROY.

Rask played in 45 games this season so he will not be considered a rookie next season.

Stands to reason that whoever the B's get would benefit from playing on a better team than the other 2010 draft picks. As for ROY it all depends on who comes up from the AHL on the other teams as well. There are some very good players in the minors who will find their way on NHL rosters who will have an impact on ROY.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

So despite not knowing who the Bruins are drafting....whether or not they will adjust to the NHL right away or (like, say, Joe Thornton, who some geniuses in the fan-base were writing off halfway through his first season) need some time to close the gap between juniors and the pros....whether or not they get significant minutes of ice time.....whether or not they'll play the whole season without picking up an injury.... and not knowing how well any other rookies will do in the NHL......

the Bruin player will win the Calder.

AWESOME post. It's based on so much fact!
