    Prospective Lineup?

Anyone have any thoughts on the lineup for the beginning of the season?  I'll start with my thoughts, feel free to bash them if you don't agree:

    Let's assume we keep Savard, sign Wheels and Seguin;

    Lucic          Savard          Ryder

    Horton         Kreci            Sturm

    Seguin        Bergeron        Recci

    Thornton      Paille           Sturm

    Chara      Seidenberg

    Ferrence   Boychuk

    Hunwck  ???

Ok, now tear it up people!

    Re: Prospective Lineup?

You have a few big holes here.  First is ryder on the first line.  Not happening. Second you have sturm listed twice and he is out for the first few months of the season. and third you are missing Stuart on the D side.

I see it alittle more like

    Horton   Savard   Wheeler
    Lucic     Krejci     Ryder
    Seguin   Bergy     Recci
    Thornton  Campbell  Paille

    Chara Seidenberg
    Stuart  Boychuck
    Ference Hunwick/ McQuaid

Maybe another Rookie or two make the squad.  Caron Colburne

    Re: Prospective Lineup?

Ryder & Savard (sadly) don't mix. It hasn't worked at all in the last two years.

    I'm hoping for something like:

    Suave/Seguin - Savard - Horton
    Lucic - Bergeron - Recchi
    Ryder - Krejci - Wheeler
    Paille - Campbell - Thornton

And then Sturm being slotted in when he gets back.

The only difference I can see is switching Sieds with Boychuk.  And wait till Sturm returns then Ryder Out

    Your D lineup is hilarious.

Seidenberg as the 3rd dman on the Left? And no Ference? Then jumping Alexandrov or (I will not insert a *snicker* here.) Button over Hunwick or McQuaid?

Does anyone have any thoughts about how many posts we will have about next years lineup between now and the drop of the puck on opening day. I'm guessing 152.

    Re: Prospective Lineup?

You are all stuck in a rut. First, consider the potential for each line. Speed and scoring = Wheeler/Savard/Seguin; then power and scoring= Lucic/Kreji/ Horton; then shut-down/ two way/ offense and defense= Ryder[ until Sturm in Dec.] /Bergeron/Recchi; then stir the pot with speed and toughness= Paille/Campbell/Thornton. On defense.. Chara/seidenberg; Stuart/ference; Hunwick/Boychuck; McQuaid as a swingman. Tuuka/Timmy or Timmy/Tuuka.  Presents balanced team with Seguin learning, Wheler playing up-tempo, Horton evolving with Kreji and Lucic clearing the way. Ryder either performs or is gone. Same could be said about Wheeler and Hunwick.

    Re: Prospective Lineup?

I like how you have Seguin "learning" while getting first line duties! Learning would be playing with Bergy and Recchi for at least the 1st half of the season while getting PP time.
Horton seems a natural fit for Savvy this season. Add Lucic on that wing and that is a mean line to face. Maybe eventually you move Seguin to Krejci's line to have two serious offensive threats on your top 2 lines.
    Luc - Sav - Horton
Wheel - Krejci - Ryder/ Seguin (Sturm in Dec.?)
Recchi - Bergeron - Seguin/ Caron (Sturm in Dec.)
    Paille - Campbell - THronton

    Chara - Boychuck
    Seid - Ference
Stuart - Hunwick - short leash for Hunwick.

The only 2 lines i feel certain should be there are the #1 & #4 - 2 & 3 you seem to be able to mix and match except for splitting Bergy and Recchi.

    Wheeler - Savard - Horton
    Lucic - Krejci - Seguin
    Recchi - Bergeron - Caron
    Paille - Campbell - Thornton

    Chara - Seidenberg
    Stuart - Boychuk
    Hunwick - Ference

(Marchand and McQuaid or Bodnarchuk in the press box.  Injuries will undoubtedly net Marchand more time than a typical 13th man receives, and when Sturm comes back, assuming all are healthy, you evaluate who is playing better and who is gelling with who and make the decision of Caron or Marchand to the minors. The only situation I see them both staying in the starting lineup for the whole season is if Chiarelli decides to give Sturm an ultimatum, "Waive your NTC or you I waive you. Don't worry, I'll find you a good home")

    Re: Prospective Lineup?

Assuming that Wheeler is signed together with Seguin and taking into account that Sturm is on the Long Term Disabled list, a player almost certainly has to be cut (demoted or bought out).  Based on PC saying no one will be bought out, that means a demotion (unless a trade can be engineered.

I would expect the following line up

    Lucic       Savard     Horton
    Seguin     Bergeron   Recchi
    Wheeler    Krejci      Colborne or Caron
    Thornton  Campbell   Paille

    Chara      Boychuck
    Ferrence  Seidenburg
    Stuart     Hunwick

    Thomas and Rask

Spares  Marchand  (Caron or Colborne) and Possibly McQuaid

    Re: Prospective Lineup?

brady, sory-no sense. Seguin does not learn AND use his scoring capability on a shutdown line. Also, Recchi cannot 'coach" while playing, more opportunity when sitting next to Seguin after a shift. Wheeler and Ryder together failed to support and embellish Kreji's exceptional creativity. Lucic played well with Kreji, and Horton has the experience to enhance this lineup. Savvy needs speed on his wings for those break thru passes. Both Wheeler and Seguin have it in spades, just ask those who went to the Development camp. Ryder has skills, he is large, and should be productive. With Bergie and Recchi, he will be "forced" to put up or depart. Beantown seems to forget Ryder?? and putting two small guys like Ference and Hunwick together is not wise.

Yep I'd rather see Boychuk with Chara as well. Julien tried Wheeler and Ryder with Savard it just did not work no chemistry.

I like Seguin with Bergeron allot but I have a feeling CJ will put Tyler with Krejci as Duinne had suggested. Imagine Krejci with a speedy youngster AWESOME!

Like butta and jam on a nice warm bagel!
