Two weeks may turn out to only be 2 or 3 games max considering that the Eastern Conference finals may not start until May 14th.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Bergeron Injury Update - Broken nose and suffers minor concussion : 2 weeks?  I'm not prepared to think about that. I'll have to do some serious back peddling if its 2 weeks.

Man, this is brutal news.  It's a shame for him to once again have to deal with this sitution.  The extent of the injury is not known but does anyone know if it being a concussion, minor or otherwise, mean he'll have to endure the symptoms that seem to be associated with the condition, that of headaches, light sensitvity, depression etc or is the nature of them unpredictable?  That must be rough.

Let's hope for a return to good health for him as soon as possible.  Perhaps Seguin may get his playoff baptism after all.

[QUOTE]Hopefully one of the series left in the west will go seven games.  This is a pretty big blow, let's not kid ourselves.  He's the top point guy, top center, faceoff magician, powerplay and shorthanded stalwart.  It's not that he won't be easily replaced, it's that he won't be at all. Thanks, Randy Jones.

Bigger picture and wishful thinking, and wishful thinking about the future.  Both series in the west go 7 games and beat the ever loving stuffing out of each other while they are at it.

Hockey Insider. My thread is correct. In fact, it was posted before Dupont made an official tweet post. It was rumered he also may have suffered a broken nose.
I am merely providing updates. Relax buddy.

This is big, look at what concussions have done to mark savard, and Bergeron has his history with concussion.  These concussions are cumulitive, if he has one I dont think we see him the rest of the season.  Could be a big hit to the bruins chances.

The Bruins had their new-found 2011 playoff composure tested along the way to reach this point by being down 2 going back to Mtl, the OT games in both series and getting the fourth win last night.  Unfortunately, it looks like they'll continue to have it tested for however long Bergeron is unavailable.  Bloody shame.

this guy is a faceoff machine, and claude has relied on him to take all important defensive zone faceoffs. he can play the point on the powerplay, and centers the bruins best line. i don't understand how seguin can just come in and replace bergeron. he has zero playoff experience (blame the coaching staff for that), and for that matter where do you slot him in? he has not played center all year and will have to play somewhere on the wing. i see claude plugging him into the third line, moving peverly to center, and kelly moving up to center the second line. this disrupts all the chemistry we have built since the beginning of the playoffs and one can only hope that he can come back sooner rather than later. hopefully the western conference matchups can drag a little longer and can in turn help get bergie back if its a short term thing.

"Bergeron was spotted walking out of TD Garden escorted by several people that were likely going to help the center get home, but it was certainly good news that he was able to exit the building under his own power."

The heart of a champion is not measured by one of their best players. It is measured by how they play together as a TEAM. Every playoff team fights through injuries and adversity. If you recall last year, Philly made it to the Stanely Cup finals without Ian LaPierre and Jeff Carter. Although this is a setback, the show must go on.

Seguin does bring a different dynamic to the game. His speed and energy could provide a needed spark to the Power Play. However, we will miss Bergy's winning the face-offs.

In the end, they should still beat Tampa in this series.

I understand where the concussion talk is coming from (confirmed by KPD) but how did we get to being out 2 weeks? The NHL has a mandatory policy of keeping players out at least a week when diagnossed with a concussion, but that seems to be all we know at the moment -- could be worse, could be cleared up by then. Am I missing something?

Given Patrice's history of concussions, the two-week-and-he's-back theory sounds way optimistic. The hit looked helmet-to-helmet; he really got gonged. I'm guessing he's done for the playoffs. I'd love to be proved wrong, though.

Injuries happen.  Other players are going to have to (continue to) step up and fill the gap.  Lucic for the scoring, Kelly for the defense.  I don't know who will fill in for the heart, however.

Add Giroux to the DB list.

I've now become a big of Nashville and Detroit...let's hope one or both  can extend to 7 games.

It's difficult to see a scenario where the B's win the Cup without Bergeron in the lineup...

Jesus focking christ, we just can't get a focking break. With 37's concussion history, any concussion is career threatening at this point. Minor concussion, one week my a-ss. That's what they said back in January about Crosby. This is just typical Bruins luck. We're done without this guy.

In Response to Bergeron Injury Update - Suffers minor concussion Out approx. 2 weeks:
[QUOTE]Hockey insider says Bergeron suffered minor concussion when he was hit by Grioux early in the 3rd period. The early prognosis is that he will be out for approximately two weeks and will play with a cage helmet. Overall, it is good news that he will play again this season. The NHL will require him the sit out mandatory one full week. There was concern that Bergy may have also suffered a broken nose however there seems to be no truth to that. Considering that there is about a week before the Tampa series begin, he should be back to play against Tampa in the middle of the series. In the meantime, Seguin will suit up. He will provide more speed and energy, however Bergy winning the face-offs will be dearly missed.

Phew ! ! !   I think we can beat TB without Bergy but we need him for the Stanley Cup final ....I also think that TB is a perfect fit for Seguin ...PREDICTION : Seguin 4 points in that 3rd round (You've heard it from Stanley)
