The NHL has a salary cap and the bruins are allmost at it. This trade would be impossible.

    Re: Boston Trade?

Can we stop these already?  If Ottawa is going to throw in the towel on the season they will have two objectives:

    1. Dump as much salary as possible.
    2. Acquire young prospects or draft picks for the future.

Yet, in the above secario they would do neither.  They would be giving away two of their top three players (plus a draft pick!??) for matching salaries, old players, and a guy who could be finished due to concussions who has a huge 10-year contract???  How in the world would Savard, Ryder, and Wheeler help Ottawa do anything?

What's more, is that the Bruins don't need more centers.  They need wingers or D-men.  Spezza and Fischer are both centers.

Sorry, it's just a ridiculous proposal.

Agreed this sounds like a leaf fan who thinks they can trade Tyler Bozak and Mike Komasarik for Malkin and Letang.

    Re: Boston Trade?

This actually makes sense. Ottawa is rebuilding, so why would they trade their franchise center, second best winger to a divsion rival, and not ask for draft picks/young prospects when they can get a player one hit away from retirement and an underacheiver????

Why didn't I think of this???
