    Buyout tracker

So far we hav Bryz, Briere and LeCav confirmed.

Will anybody change their mind later this summer?  I wonder if Peter will hold firm to no buyouts?

I think the window for compliance buyouts is very short.

    Forgot about Kaberle.

When is the end of the buyout?  I didn't know that it was limited to some date.

In my searches I found something I didn't know - that the player you buy out must have an average of 3 mil per year minimum

Right down to forgetting about Kaberle.  Hmm...

Gomez and Redden were apparently compliance buyouts.

    Thanks, good link.

I wonder if that's all we see?

Or if they are busy trying to trade the guys they are thinking of buying out?

It's not as if they all haven't had time to think it out.

The first of these windows opened at 11 p.m. on June 26 and closes at 5 p.m. on July 4.

    this from NHL.COM buyout tracker.

Usually, after that window, you can only do a buy-out in response to an RFA offer sheet or an arbitration award.

Oh a "kind of" explanation, Kaberle and Komiserak aren't on the list because first they have to clear waivers first, another thing I didn't know.  On waivers for 24 hours and then officially bought out.  However, NHL.com noted that with an * for everyone already - so why some and not others...  ???

Or maybe not.  I thought guys getting bought out like it was going out of style...

Well technically there can only be 60 players bought out? So I'm not sure how many will end up being bought out...

Half the teams in the league *should* - so 30.

    What really happens, 12.

And now we don't have another on the buyout tracker.

Sather decides not to buy out Brad Richards.

Maybe Stanley can become an NHL gm after all.

What the NHL needs is more comedy.

Brad Richards traded for Roberto Luongo would be hilarious.

The Islanders bought out Yashin, a few years ago, but there is still a cap hit, every year. Can a team buy out a contract that is already bought out? Sealed

I heard that Vancouver has put Ballard on waivers, so I expect him to be the next buyout, along with DiPietro from the Islanders.

I know the Islanders would never do it, because they need it to get to the cap floor.

He is on recallable waivers, not waivers with the intent of buying him out. The Nucks are hoping some team claims him. Aquilini obviously doesn't like to throw money around for nothing, might be saving it to pay off his ex wife.

So if nobody claims him, Vancouver will have 2 players on their team, that know they are not wanted?

Maybe Ballard and Luongo can start a club.
