thanks for posting ... as you said,  a good night for the offensive contributors we are looking for, and Svedberg seems to have "saved the day" with PVD having a rough go in that third period - glad that Johnson was able to pot a game-winner as it would have been a tough game to lose

Too bad Providence weren't on Rogers TV every night. That is the clearest highlight reel of the PBruins i've ever seen. Tyler Randell with a monster right cross in his fight WoW!

Morrow on the board, that's something I guess.

Knight picks up his second, Sweethands his third, but the P-Bruins are now 1-2 after former farmhand Andrew Bodnarchuk puts up 2 points against them, and they get Bjorked in the shootout.

    Fire all coaches.

    trivia:

There's an AHL ref named Koharski.  No, really, there is.

And according to the anouncers Koharski ignored a major hooking call which led to a P Bruins goal.  So I guess the Bruins conspiracy extend to Providence.  What the anouncer failed to see (or notice or mention) was that the player was holding a Bruins stick tight to his chest making it look like hooking.

Tommy Cross changed his number from 11 to 3.

What I hated most about those pooh bear third jersies was that they used either their black or white helments which didn't match a dam thing.  And now the Providence Bruins are doing the same thing.  Drives me nuts.

Why don't they use yellow helmets with the yellow uniforms?

Spooner with a 3 point night, and Cunningham and Griffith off the schneid.  In fact, every goal in tonight's game was a first of the year except Spooner's EN goal.

    Back to .500.

Spooner with Fraser and Johnson is going to be a sick line. Spooner helped Jamie freaking Tardif pot 30+ goals or something last year. I'm sure he can help Fraser and Johnson eclipse that. Watch Spooner's point total soar this year.

If he can continue his improvements, he's gotta find a spot in the next 2 years.

Unfortunately for him, Chris Kelly is signed through 2015-2016 and has a NMC. That could make things really tough for the youngster.

    http://bruins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=686810&navid=DL|BOS|home

On defense, Trotman continues to make a compelling case for NHL duty. After a standout tournament against Tampa Bay, Florida and Nashville rookies, the Indiana native showed up to main camp in Boston ready to work. He was rewarded with opportunities to showcase his impressive package of size, mobility and smarts during exhibition play before being returned to the AHL. With the B’s loaded at the defense position, Trotman is best served by playing top minutes in Providence in all situations. He has two assists so far, and with his cannon shot, expect him to contribute goals to the mix at both even strength and on the power play. He’s big, strong, and has underrated vision and puck-moving skills. He may need another full season in the AHL, but the last pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft is knocking on the door for a big league job.

Picking up where he left off after becoming the first Providence goalie in team history to win the Aldedge “Baz” Bastien Award, Svedberg has gone 2-0-1, posting a 2.25 goals against average and outstanding .936 save percentage. With fine size and reflexes, Svedberg is fundamentally sound and efficient in his crease movements. However, what makes him so valuable for his team is an ability to make key saves at the right moments. Although Providence has surrendered late analysis takes leads this season, Svedberg has done his part to keep his team in it each and every night, with three quality starts under his belt.

That kind of consistency is what will earn Svedberg an NHL opportunity sooner rather later. He is making an early season case as the team’s MVP and most consistent player."

P-Bruins' weekend plusses and minuses By Mark Divver

My take on the good, the bad and the ugly from the second weekend of the Providence Bruins season:

    Good

*** They took three out of four points with a shootout loss at home and a road win.

*** Ryan Spooner was everywhere on Saturday night with two goals, an assist, six shots and a plus-2.

*** OK, it's only one game, but the opening night crowd of 10,175 on Friday puts Providence in the early lead in average attendance.

*** After watching the first three games from the stands, Seth Griffith scored a nice breakaway goal in his pro debut on Saturday night.

*** Solid weekend for Alex Fallstrom. Nice assist on Friday. A goal and a fight on Saturday.

*** A plus-4 for David Warsofsky on Saturday.

    Bad

*** With Kevan Miller (head) and Bobby Robins (knee) out, the P-Bruins are missing two veteran leaders.

*** Providence is getting very little offense from its defensemen. Joe Morrow has the only goal. Zach Trotman has 2 assists and Ben Youds has 1. It's all zeroes for everyone else.

*** More needed from Carter Camper (0 points) and Craig Cunningham (1 goal).

    Ugly

*** Closing out games when they had a third-period lead was a strong point last season. With seven rookies and five second-year pros, the P-Bruins have already given up two late leads.

*** Special teams haven't been good. The power play is 17th, scoring at a rate of 14.3 percent. The penalty kill continues to be the worst in the league at 63.6 percent."

    Re: Farmville updates Part II

Interesting note about Camper and Cunningham.  I wonder if this is a case of the players with more high-end talent realizing some of their potential and surpassing guys already playing to their potential?  When you look at the P-Bruin stats right now, there's the top line with Sweethands in place of Bourque and Fraser for Tardif, but after that it's the second rounders Knight and Khokhlachev making an impact (through 4 games, of course).  Fallstrom's there in his first full pro season, Griffith had a goal in his first game, and Lindblad seems to be having trouble even breaking into the lineup despite his starring role on Behind the B.

Gonna be a dogfight for ice time down there.  I like Cunningham, and I didn't think Camper looked horrible in his one NHL stint, so I hope they fight the good fight.  But there is a point where making the NHL has somehting to do with level of talent, and it's hard to overlook that there may be a reason Camper was never drafted and Cunningham was plucked in his third and final shot.

Subban - 0-2, 4.09 GAA, .879 Sv%.  I think this is the point where we ought to stick a fork in the idea that the Bruins should move any of the guys ahead of Subban on the depth chart because they have one of the best goalies in the OHL last year.  He's going to take some time to become a pro.

It is not, however, time to gloat about not drafting goalies in the first round.

How many consecutive games will Griffith put up points before they bump Fraser down a line?!  3 games, 4 points for Griffith.

And is it time to start ripping the development department for giving up on Bodnarchuk?  He leads Manchester in scoring and has been dynamite against the P-Bruins.
