If there was a wrist shot competition at All Star break -- Chara may win that one too -- That was a smoker.

I am going to just say it, as I've seen the replay a number of times.  I do not see how/where Orpik was injured or said differently, I have never seen a player leave on a board for less contact.

The accusation that Orpik was viciously attacked by Thornton is just not supported by the video evidence.  Furthermore, there is so little contact to cause the injury:

    • Orpik does not hit is head on the ice when pulled down by ST (slew-foot)
    • ST punches with glove on
    • ST's punches have little on them, a couple of short shots, more like like jabs
    • ST's punches appear to be more of the glancing variety
    • ST's punches hit Orpik in the visor, and his head does not make violent contact with the ice

Really, how hurt is Orpik?  The medical staff have to react with appropriate caution, but don't you go out on a board when there is a concern for neck/back injury, as compared to just getting KO'd?  Calling Dr. Recchi...

    [/QUOTE]

All accurate observations but something major happened -- He was out cold until they had him strapped in just before moving him off the ice. Eyes wide open -- blank stare -- no blinking.

Looks like he's going to be ok but he may need to see the replay on his hit on Eriksson since he may not be able to remember back that far.

    Orpik - 3 games

    Neal - 5 games

    Thornton. - 6 games

Anything less is BS. What an ugly game. Great win point wise by ugly game otherwise. Neal and Thornton should be ashamed of themselves. Orpik i'm not sorry for but hope he's alright. In today's NHL, you have to answer the bell or you might get mugged. Don't agree with what Thornton did but if you throw that high hit, you answer the bell the first time Thort comes calling.

Post game interviews on NHL Net. Thornton with an honest and remorseful respone. Visibly shaken up. This was not ST trying to buy sympathy on the hearing -- he's going to rightfully lose some sleep on this one.

Neal -- a total classless cop-out. Needs to see the replay. Claims -- May have hit him with my knee, shin, leg -- guess I have to move out of the way quicker. Something about Marchand falling in front of him.

In a Thornton-like move -- Did anyone catch Rinaldo in the Flyers--Stars game?

Officially a concussion, per Fluto.  Two in such short a time spand does not bode well.

Needs to see the replay?! That's bulls--t.  Let's see if Shanahan agrees he has to move out of the way quicker.
