GDT - Bruins at Stars 1/16/14

DALLAS – Good morning from the American Airlines Center, where the Bruins will start a two-game road swing tonight against the Stars.

The Bruins are coming off a 4-3 home loss to Toronto. Things will not get easier after tonight. The Bruins play the Blackhawks in Chicago on Sunday. They need results against the Stars, who are six points out of a playoff spot.

    Puck drop: 8:30 p.m. ET

TV/radio info: NESN (Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley, Jamie Erdahl), 98.5 The Sports Hub (Dave Goucher, Bob Beers)

    Records: Bruins 29-15-2, Stars 21-18-7

    Projected Bruins lineup:

    Milan Lucic-David Krejci-Jarome Iginla
    Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron-Reilly Smith
    Carl Soderberg-Ryan Spooner-Loui Eriksson
    Daniel Paille-Gregory Campbell-Shawn Thornton

    Zdeno Chara-Johnny Boychuk
    Matt Bartkowski-Adam McQuaid
    Torey Krug-Kevan Miller

    Tuukka Rask
    Chad Johnson

    Healthy scratch: Jordan Caron

Storylines: This will be the first game in Dallas for ex-Stars Reilly Smith and Loui Eriksson. Smith, initially projected to be the third-line right wing, has replaced Eriksson on the second line. Smith is the team’s second-leading scorer (33 points) after David Krejci (36). Tonight will be Eriksson’s third game back following his second concussion of the year… Chris Kelly (leg) and Dougie Hamilton (concussion) will not play tonight. Neither will play against Chicago on Sunday either… Assuming Tuukka Rask and Kari Lehtonen start tonight, it will be a showdown of two of Finland’s Olympic goalies. Antti Niemi of the Sharks is the third. Rask was in the lead for the No. 1 job, but his recent slide may have given Lehtonen and Niemi some late life… Steve Kozari and Mark Lemelin will be the referees. Brian Murphy and Pierre Racicot will be the linesmen.

Fraser will be called up to replace ST, game will go to a shootout, CJ will use Loui,Smith & Fraser  as revenge and Ruff counters with Seguin,Peverly & Erik Cole, all score except Cole and everyone go's home happy.

Rask may be fired up - if he stones Dallas while Lehtonen gets lit up, it could solidify his spot as the number one going into Sochi. Give the Finnish brass a head to head comparison between the two.

I think Niemi is more in the picture than Lehtonen....

I would have said the same after the first half.  Since then not so much.  Rask should and will start imo.

I'm just going to enjoy watching this game.

All I want is Seguin off the scoresheet, the rest will take care of itself.

Seguin with a goal and an assist, Benn left off the scoresheet would be mighty fine.  The Bs will win if Rask knows his angles tonight.

Weird, I got the impression in the post game on Tuesday that CJ had full confidence in Rask... and now he sits him?

Or Julien just trusts his backup goalie is good enough to give his starter a rest . Which is the purpose of having a backup.

Agree it's probably this... but strange timing for a rest don't you think?

Considering he played all three games in Cali and wasn't as sharp as he's been on Monday seems like a good time for a break - especially with Chicago up next.

Bruins need to work on their 2 on 1's, especially Krejci. Too many times they get them and fail to get the puck on net.
