And I'm bored.  Stoli and Sprite after a hard day's work.

My opinion was unpopular but the same as yours. I wanted to hang on to him out of spite until he's ready to play but I've since changed my mind. I'd rather have the cap space over any return he might bring in later.

Earlier in the off-season I thought trade him to open up the cap space, but at this point, where is the benefit? The team is pretty much set and with Savard's LTIR the Bruins would have enough money to handle a deadline trade if needed (considering something would be going the other way). The Bruins could keep him and then have three options - trade him after the season when he'd have some return, let him walk, or force him to play for the Bruins. The first two options have some appeal.

I don't see the advantage, given the state of the roster, that trading him now would give to the club.

Agreed.  Dez called it keeping him and making him squirm 'out of spite', but since we're into Biblical definitions 'an eye for an eye' might be more appropriate.

Thomas played hard ball so he should expect the Bruins to play hard ball as well.

Holding onto him until they can get value for him sends a good message IMO, we'll treat you right if you treat us right.

And if no one wants him, they should force him to play for the Bruins until a buyer comes along with the right price.

Re: Jacobs Is Confident TT Can Still Be Dealt?

The B's are stuck with his cap hit and that's what they can trade. If he doesn't play, he doesn't get paid. He owes the bruins a year, and if he accepts next year, then they have to pay him, and from what I understand goes against the cap what they pay him. I don't know how that works, because it doesn't seem right. No one is going to trade from him until a new deal is in place because no one knows what the cap floor will be. If Tukka has a great year, the best would be for Timmy to ask for a trade. That's when the Bruins could stick it to him, if they so desired. Just ask for the best player from each team interested, and make the price too high. His value drops with time, so what teams will offer drops off considerably, Personally, I would shake hands and say 'thanks Timmy for helping us win the cup, and good luck with rest of your life.'

In response to "Re: Jacobs Is Confident TT Can Still Be Dealt?":
In Response to Re: Jacobs Is Confident TT Can Still Be Dealt? : AND this post tells us exactly what is WRONG with America....  You all believe in Freedom of Speech, and demand your rights to freedom from thought police....  but to quote you.... HALF OF AMERICA HATES HIM FOR WHAT HE BELIEVES.... Although I do not believe as he does... I do lean conservative ( just not that far).... I don't HATE half of America for feeling that they have a right to spend another man's earnings..... I just disagree with their philosophy....  I do not hate them... BECAUSE THEY ARE WRONG! There is nothing inherently ( or biblically) correct with stealing another man's earnings to support someone who will not support themself.  As a matter of fact it places those people being garnished into a state of indentured servitude.   DO I agree that the rich should be able to DONATE more of what they have?  YES.... DO I believe it is MY right to demand they do so... NOPE! Again... the post I am replying to is the problem with America... PEOPLE "HATE" others because they do not toe the socialist line.   I just disagree with many of the thoughts from both sides of the political spectrum- but do not hate others for their views. SO I guess I would have to state that since about 30% of us have the balls enough to be independent of the political parties.... NOT half of all Americans hate others for their views.  SORRY, but this entire concept is just one of those that gets me on a SOAPBOX...  why in the he11 does anyone pledge their allegiance to either of these two corrupt parties.  The Dems are just as corrupt as the reps..... and here is a clue for you....  they don't give a hoot about the people of America.   The guy in office now has spent more money on his trips and golf and put us further in debt than any guy in the history of this country... "WE".. all of us in the middle class will be forced to pay for that debt.... NOT just the Dems... Not Just the Reps.... Not in any way the POOR.... but the Middle class.... WAKE UP! Posted by FenwayChuck
You think your taxes just go to pay for people don't support themselves? You're as whacked as Timmy!
