Leafs will be playing golf on April 11, how does that make them winners?  Nice try Beavis.  Doesn't your man-crush on Phil embarass you?

[QUOTE]With 2011 returns almost in, it does appear that UNTIL Tyler Seguin gets it going and Jared Knight  shows his NHL worthiness, the Leafs have simply WON the Kessel trade. Look at the facts..at only 23 he is already a consistent 30 goal scorer vs 19 yr old Tyler's 11 goals. Tyler is exhibiting the same soft tendencies that Kessel supposedly showed, yet we praise Tyler and cut down Kessel..remember, those soft tendencies is why Kessel was run out of town here. Don't be a homer and Kessel hater, look at the facts! Burke is so far the winner of that trade.

How can you possibly say they've won on this deal when we still haven't even seen part of what we got for Kessel?  Are you forgetting we have another 1st rounder from them this year?  Plus, Seguin has played maybe half of the amount of ice time that Phil Kessel's little b*tchass has played this season.  You sir, are misinformed and should probably just lay off the posts for a little while.. take a break.

Yes, the Leafs are winning in this trade right now because Kessel is reaching his prime and Seguin is just starting out. That's what happens when you trade draft picks for established players.

Talk to me about how the Leafs got the better of the trade in 10 years.

By dumping a soft one deimension player, Boston get three top 32 picks including a top 2 pick, and also clear cap space to allow them to re-sign core players and bring in Horton who is better than Kessel.  Bruins win short and long term.  I hope this thread is a joke.  It is the eqivalent of someone trying to justify that Toronto got the better end of the Rask for Raycroft trade.

And exactly how do you measure success Cactus? Seguin has as many goals as Kessel had in his first year with much less icetime. Not to mention Kessel is in his peak and it is still not good enough to guide his team to the playoffs. Your logic is weak....

I like Kessel and I would not have traded him but the Leafs still sux!! They are another two years away from the playoffs and Kessel's contract ends at that point so he can go somewhere else. The Leafs have not won anything...on the ice or off of it.

Another impact of the trade was cap space to acquire a cheaper goal scorer like Nathan Horton. I would take what he brings to the Bruins ( size, toughness and being physical ) over the intangibles that Kessel brings ( ?????????? ).

When the b's traded Kessel I'm pretty sure that no matter who they drafted it was common knowledge Kessel would have more goals than the rookie did his first year.

    So Whats your point?????

Yeah, that's exactly why this is such a dumb analysis.  Without the trade, the Bruins have $5.5 million less cap space and can't sign at least one of Chara, Bergeron, and Horton.  Without the trade Toronto has $5.5 million in cap space, and three high end draft picks in the system.  Toronto may have acquired someone like Brad Richards with that money.

The Bruins win the trade (yeah, already) just on the basis of getting $5.5 million in payroll back for the worst +/- guy in the game and a horrible fit for their system.  Everything else is gravy.
