If you're going to start a new thread, with an opinion.  Explain what the opinion is.

Tons of threads on the hits/suspension of the past week.  Why is yours different?  What are you saying?  How does the NHL "encourage thuggery"?

I don't think anyone is "shocked by the consequences" either.  Just another ho-hum week of NHL cheapshots and injuries.

    What's your argument?

Yes I agree with you,if your saying the NHL doesn't punish there players severly for breaking the rules, which results in players taking things into there own hands.

Yeah, he probably didn't play street hockey with Superstar Jon Morris or get into the old Garden free 50 times in the 80s.

The Cooke cheap shot on Savard is a prime example. Savard may have taken a career ending hit and Cooke returned to the ice to dole out more dirty hits.

Cage fighting is popular too. Maybe that's what the NHL should evolve into. And Savard's career is probably over as a result of a cheap shot.

It's not that uncommon a word. You've got a dictionary, look it up. It's like pornography---you know it when you see it.
