That's tragic. Never good that a guy so young gets taken from his family like that. God bless his family, He'll help them through this time of sorrow.

SORRRY but for those of u who love the tradition of the enforcer smacking around others into the boards and fighting by taking unlimited tough guy blows to the head, this is the usaul ebd result. hockey will have to clean up its game a bit. this guy had a concussion and missed 52 games, tells u it was severe. not willing to believe that was his first brain injury. dont be shocked if it turns out he had a defective brain like the other 2 enforcer types of recent memory who died in similar ways.

So communist, should hockey become a girl only sport? Or do guys know the risk when they play in the NHL? Especially guys like Boogard? Did he and his brothers not hold a hockey fighting camp? Am I mistaken? Should hockey be as bland as baseball or what? What is your point?

Seriously, would we all love hockey if it wasn't for a little violence?

I'm not assuming anything, but most likely this had to do with genetic heart related stuff or drug issues. So please, lets not try to turn it into something personal about what hockey should or shouldn't be! Hockey is what it is. People who don't play hockey don't, and people who do know the risks.

I agree. Don't jump to any conclusions. Although very sad, it may have had nothing to do with fighting. Lets wait for the autopsy results. RIP Boogyman.

Very sad news anytime a young person's life ends way too soon.

On a side note, anyone know how does the league will treat his contract, one of the worst in NHL history (4yrs/$6.5M)?  Off the top of my head, I cannot recall the death of an active NHL player in the salary cap era?

    Crowls,

I think he is confusing Probert and Kocur.  Probert heart. Kocur lung failure/heart as a result of an overdose.
Hockey players know the risk when they play.  I mean should a player who was has a repeat history with concusions suddenly die(no names mentioned for fear of bad karma) should we eliminate checking.
I hope it wasnt a suicide or drug OD.   My guess is an enlarged heart.  He was a huge huge man.
