The Wheels Fall Off

Julian's game management is suspect at best....Timeout Claude

Thomas amazing at the most difficult times.....awful today on the must stop pucks

    Kaberle.....well....you just $uck.

Let's hope this isn't 2010 and another collapse.

No Seguin when you are pulling off the goalie.  Recchi... is this guy for real!!

Bruins D was unable to handle a strong TB forecheck.  Horton and Lucic have subpar games.

What was Chara doing playing center field on the 2 on 1 with an empty net?  Gave them a guarenteed goal.  Still was plenty of time on the clock at the time.

it would't be Bruins playoffs if they didn't blow a 3 goal lead.  They got it behind them; now time to regroup.

Obviously the 2 on 1 wasn't his fault, but his effort to try to break it up as the lone guy back was pathetic.  He just gave them the empty netter by playing it halfway.

Agreed.  If they've shown anything in these playoffs, it is resiliency.  To a man, for whatever the reason, they must know they loosened their grip on the game in the second period and allowed TB up off the mat.  Today's result was disappointing but it's a hell of a lot better than returning to Boston down 3-1.

    Re: The Wheels Fall Off

Why did Chara play dump in with an empty net?? Horton was not in the game, Looch had spurts after he was clocked; the refs never called tripping or high stick until it was time to even the game; then the only calls were on the bruins, who probably deserved nothing more based on their mishandling of pucks all afternoon.

Agreed. Why isn't Chara on the first pp unit.

NHL is BS...they clearly didn't want to win.  How many times did the B's go into the corners chasing, standing straight up in the second period?..ridiculous.

    Hooray for a Game 7 in a money-starved league.
In Response to Re: The Wheels Fall Off : There was NO excuse not be returning to Boston UP 3-1.  That's the key.  They really blew this one.  And these aren't the Habs.  Bigger and tougher and faster.

ipot - 100% in agreement.  There was no excuse with the stakes so high.  It was the Bruins who let TB back into it, not TB wrestling the game away from the Bruins.  TB had a lot of help from the visitors.

It looked like they were playing during their nap time.  I blame most of this loss on the schedule.

The Bruins got easy goals early and thought that they could cruise the rest of the way. The Lightning picked up the pace and saw that they could get turnovers off of shabby defensive play. Thomas gave them the 1st goal by screwing around with the puck behind the net. Kaberle gave them another one and McQuaid couldn't cover anyone in front of the net. Maybe a time-out would have helped but the whole team, aside from Bergeron, just looked awfully flat.

trouts - Well said.  I'd imagine someone will ask Julien why he didn't call a time-out when it was clear the Bruins were running around, floundering and in need of a moment to settle down.  I would be interested in hearing his explanation.
TT was not at his best, but there is another way to see this.   What does it say about a team when it can survive when its goalie stands on his head, like TT did in Game 3?   To me it masks other problems with the play in front of him. Luongo, Roloson, Niemi are not as good as Thomas, but those teams are here with us.   Something went deathly wrong between the 1st and 2nd period and this TEAM stopped what they were doing for 60 minutes of Game 3.  It's eerie, and I don't like to recall last year's Flyers series where the momentum just went out the window......I hope THEY remember it and wake the F up for good.
    Posted by ipot
ipot - We watched the club subconsciously ease up on TB.  I doubt they intended to do it but we all could see that determination and urgency leave their game and be replaced by that of TB.  We know to give that team second life can be death for the opposition.  I hope they return home angry with the knowledge of letting the game slip through their fingers knowing they didn't bury TB when they had the chance.
