Horton started his already but if one of his bad scoreless streaks starts I expect it to be gone. Bergeron needs one because he needs to get on a streak of his own as he has been far to silent lately.

Yup. Every year.  Last game looked like everyone had a 5 o'clock shadow going, except maybe Timmy.  Cant remember anything other than his horrible '70's porn stash.  But I tell you what:  If they sweep the Habs with Timmy sporting that stash, Ill shave my beard and wear the same stash!!!!!

i think the whole "fan, playoff beard" thing is pretty stupid, your not on the team, if you want to grow a beard on your own whatever but it shouldn't be for hte playoffs

I am another that thinks fans growing beards is stupid.
I also think that players growing beards is stupid.

Re: To beard, or not to beard?

It's tradition for the players and a great one.  The beard represents how well a team does in the playoffs and that is cool to see.

As for fans growing beards.  I think a fan should do whatever they want to do to get pumped up and involved in the playoffs.  This is the best time of year to be a hockey fan and the more a fan does to show support the better.

I think the beard is pretty neat... certainly better than not changing your underwear for the whole time.

Plus, the Bruins typically hold a Playoff Beard type of Charity. I haven't seen anything on it yet this year but then again I haven't been to the actual Bruins page all year.  Regardless, I'll be growing one, and in my opinion it's not stupid.  So there.

Seriously, I couldnt care less if someone thinks its stupid for a "fan" to grow a beard or not.  I played my whole life, even in college on a scholarship, so Ive been playing the hair-grow-athon for a while now.  Just because I dont play anymore doesnt make this time of year less exciting for me.

Imitating the players is weak.  Imitating the the nicknames they give each other, growning playoff beards or ever using the word "chirp" in context is weak.  Some of the players tuck in one side of their jersey.  Do you tuck in one side of your t-shirt...just to be like a hockey player?

I have a go-tee all year round, until Game 1 of the playoffs. Then gone down the sink and start growing the beard. It's like getting a temporary tatoo. Tells people that MY/OUR team is still fighting for the Lord Stanley Cup!

Beer league guys who imitate NHLers on the ice is fun.

Beer league guys who imitate them off the ice are pathetic.  "They grow beards so I'm growing one too!"  "They say 'chirp' so I'm going to say 'chirp' too."  Pathetic.

Totally agree.  Pretending you are like a player is just kinda sad.  And the guy who played a little bit who thinks that makes it better, is a little sadder.

On a related note, anyone notice Ovechkin interview after their win tonight? Shaved smooth as a baby.  He looks like he's going for the anti-beard.
