In response to Chappy28's comment:
Stupid to look for 100% confidence in anything when it comes to winning in the playoffs. The question is CAN this team win in the playoffs? And the answer is yes.
The question of WILL comes down to a lot of factors that can't be predicted or determined by management. A hot team is a hot team and winning in the playoffs is a combination of playing your best, and getting some breaks.
There have been years where a team sneaks into the playoffs only to get hot and win the whole thing (LA) and other years where the #1 seed plows their way through for the cup.
Last years team got to game 6 of the finals. This years team is no worse, maybe better positioned to do the same (better depth up front, defense is a wash -- more scoring, less defensive).
The rest is fate
Stupid ? okay, I'll take it serious from others that post more often here.
The questions and discussion me and Bookboy were having since they fell s hort last year against Chicago are 1- what was missing on the Bruins the last Stanley Cup final to win it ? 2- are they still missing that (those) element (s) to make another run to win the cup ? This is taking into consideration they have found a replacement of equal value to Seidenberg.
Was Chicago just the better team ? Luck ? I don't like to base it on luck because I believe usually the better team gets the bounces . Was it Chicago's fast offensive team breaking down a very good defensive Bruins team ? and if that's the case what should have the Bruins done or have to counter that Chicago team ?
I'm just throwing this out there because I feel this years team might be in the same predicament.
Above you're generalizing how teams win in the playoffs, that's kind of obvious and rarely have teams that squeak in win the cup thus far. The point of the matter was the Bruins succumbed everything you're stating , they were in the final , so what was it they were missing to win it ? Injuries don't count, both teams went, go through that.
p.s. I agree this team can win in a round (s) in the playoffs.
