We had Ray last year and the Heat were better.  So what's the point?  Anyone that thinks Ray Allen is the difference between Boston and Miami is nuts.

back for another round of splashy rabble-rousing, eh mr progresso? i've already got ray penciled in for yet another extended period of off-target shooting come springtime and the playoffs.

Ray did not come through last year not once.  He was injured and like a tempermental racehorse he could not straighten out his shot in that condition.  Now his shots are wide open and he gets to roam the court free with nobody near as everyone on the other team is covering Lebron, Wade and Bosh.

He did not help us last year.  Terry will,  go back to the Mavs-Heat series in 2011. He missed a big shot Sat. but he will make them when games  count later in the year.

You didn't address my point.  The Celtics lost to the Heat last year and the Celtics had Ray Allen.  Why would you act like the Celtics having Ray Allen this year would make a difference?

    It wouldn't.

Ray is a player that used to br great and now is good.  He isn't a difference maker anymore.

i think the heat would disagree as would the people putting him in this year's allstar game. ray was HURT last year and he still showed up asa professional decoy. now healthy, ray is EXACTLY as he was when he first got to bawston.. period! just hard to push him in the starting lineup and u want to avoid the wear tear to keep him fresh for another 3 or 4 years. he could still start and play 35 minutes.. ray is stillll GREATTTT! PP USED TO BE GREAT.. GOT THAT?

    [/QUOTE]

Ray is not still great.  Neither is Pierce.  Neither is Garnett.

If you think Ray Allen is still great then I know that you aren't objective.

He is playing 26 minutes a game and averaging 13 points.

I do agree that Ray is playing very well.  I just don't agree that he would make that much of a difference over Terry.

Re: 0 for 1: Last second GAME-TYING or GAME-WINNING 3s missed that RAY has and would have made!

I love Ray! He has a nice season so far, and was by far not as bad as most people made him last year. He was better than both Lee and Terry in the last season. He is a better defender than Terry ever was. And when people remember Terry in the finals 2011, they should also remember how often the Mavs lost in the first round cause Terry was nowhere to be seen.

    But in the end:

The biggest issues of the C's is not that they miss Ray Allen. Terry is as good as you can get replacing Ray's shooting. A bigger issue is the lack of size of Terry, AB and Rondo. With Pierce being old you need at least one big guard against the Joe Johnsons in the league. But you may not have the possibility to keep Terry, AB, Lee, Barbosa and Rondo (happy). An even bigger issue is the lack of rebounding, inside scoring and players who draw double teams.

rebounding has always been our problem...........having or not having Ray Allens isn't making any difference this year.........

Celtics aren't giving themselves more chances by losing the rebound battles

Ray left for three million for three years.  He could have had 12 million for two.  What do you want the Celtics to do. Bradley comes back the same and Ray would never have played.  Terry is a better clutch player in big games than Ray and that is a fact.

Ray is better than Terry - so what. Ray signed elsewhere. So, who cares?

Are you saying Terry was not the best possible replacement given Ray signed elsewhere?

Of course you aren't. Given Ray left, Terry was a great signing.

You're just trolling about Ray Allen for no use or purpose.

Ray is having a very good season, give him credit. He's also benefitting from playing with two all time greats still in their prime.

But you have no idea if Ray would have made that shot if he was here. No idea.

By the way, we would have won a championship in 2010 if Ray Allen had not almost set a record for futility by going 0 for 13 in game 3. He was a great player here but don't go pretending he didn't shoot his share of bricks in clutch situations. He could have brought us a second ring with a better shooting night and forever etched himself as the greatest 3 point shooter in NBA history, winning the finals MVP in the process. But he didn't do it.
