5 things that have to happen if we are to have a shot at a title

    1. We come out VERY prepared to start the season... NO RUST

Is everyone in fantastic shape? Has Doc been designing plays to feature Green as a 36 minute 18ppg scorer (and integrate Johnson)? Has Rondo worked on his shot? Will there be no noticable aging in the big 3 (in fact will KG look healthier than he has in a long time?)

    2. Being familiar with each other to the point that being that ultra prepared pays off in execution and a VERY quick start

Will the big 4's 4 years of intimacy translate into easy buckets and the type of 'i know where all my teammates are positioned right now' defense that makes teams still playing like it is training camp look up and wonder how they are down 15? RUN RUN RUN

    3. Getting big leads and resting the vets

In the last 6 mins of most games... the last 18 minutes of back to backs and the last 12 games of the season.

    4. Getting homecourt throughout the East playoffs... HAVE TO beat the bad teams we are supposed to beat... and we can't beat the Heat (and their refs) if we do not have homecourt

there is a chance that Miami's big 3 slacked a bit this offseason, we know they are immature. And they will have targets on their backs while our guys will be thought of as too old to be much of a challenge anymore

    5. Come the playoffs have Rondo average a triple double, hit the open 15 footer and 75% from the line in the playoffs while Ray/Paul play just as good as any point in the past 3 years and KG plays better than at any point since his '09 injury, and Green be the leading minute guy, long defender constant bother to other teams best scorers

Gotta come out with swagger and set the tone... play a different style of ball than they are used to. Like how the mid 80's championship formula stopped working in 89 and 90... so they changed it in 91 and 92 and actually had nasty top 5 teams... teams that could have done more damage if Bird just stayed healthy.

Follow that formula and I'm guessing our big 3 will be heathier this May/June than Bird and McHale were in the 91 and 92 playoffs...

There are a couple of things that can happen to give the Celts a realistic shot.  JJJ becomes to be a Rondo-esque find.  If the Celts can find that one surprise All-Star type player, they will have a shot.

The other is a trade: Rondo for Chris Paul (Don't know if it is possible in the current salary cap structure.)

Otherwise, I don't think that they have a chance.

rameakap, is that all the Celtics need to do to win a title? Since you're dreaming, why not add Baby has to avg 20 ppg & 10 rbs and JON 15ppg, 15rbs & 7 blocks.

We need another center in addition to Jon.  The Celtics will struggle if he is the only reliable center that we have.

Or even less likely, Rondo hitting 15 footers or FTs at 75%.

If he could do that, we would be going for our 20th ring, not 18th.
