Olynyk is not a center. His arms are too short.

His best chance on having a strong NBA career will be determined by how well he shoots from the perimeter as a stretch 4. So far, his shooting stinks. He'll have to shoot much better.

actually I have been a huge fan since the days or Stacom and Ard. Being intelligent doesn't make me a Laker fan.

Why do you feel the need to disparage Olynyk to the point that you imply that his injury alone has turned the Celtics into a really good team? Do you really think Olynyk would have cost the Celtics 40 points today?

That sounds more like a Laker fan to me.

i have to say, the olynyk crystal ball watching really does belong in the hall of fame "instant classic" section of "hack kneed premises"  Cool

the shooting is the first thing to go when a rook shows up to the dance mooshy in the muscle dept.  olynyk has an outside shot to be a travis knight type of outside shooter, but will need to have more range than knight did.

i guess it all starts with him putting on some serious upper body strength in through the chest and the arm stubs

Probably 6-2 and 6-1 if Oly was was playing.  Now that AB and Wild Thing are shooting so well, and the ball movement is so good, they would at least be 6-2.  Oly would not make any teammates  play worse as he is already a fine team player who is a pass-first and ball- movement guy.  His teammates are finally playing Oly/Stevens ball.

The Celtics are a minus 7.6 with Olynyk on the court and a plus 7.9 with Humphries on the court. That is a 15 point swing.

    Numbers don't lie.
No. They just change and fluctuate over larger sample sizes.

    derp.
Humphries is our best big. He has been from the beginning of the season.

    Olynyk is a struggling rookie.

If you want to lose, play Bradley at the point and Olynyk at PF.

Otherwise, let Olynyk sit on the bench and learn.
Sitting on the bench is fine. You being all happy because he is injured is lame.

    Get it?
I never said that.

You sure are one cranky dude.
Kelly Olynyk's game has gone south ever since he changed his game from an offensive threat to a team facilitator. He once had a 3 point shot, an intermediate shot and was McHale-like scoring around the basket. He got discouraged when he had shots blocked, started to press on shots, started missing and changed his game.

In addition to changing from a 7' offensive threat he became a point forward/center by choice and by perceived team needs. In both roles his effectiveness was greatly diminished. The Celtics needed offense and a strong inside presence depending on what role KO was asked to play. Olynyk was ill equipped to play the center position because he didn't master blocking-out, couldn't rebound as a 7' player and was borderline adequate as a defender. He was a pass-first player period.

Instead of Brad Stevens coaching the deficiencies in Olynyk's game he watched as KO became less and less relevant as a contributor. Brad Stenes did not play to Olynyk's strength but rather to what he thought the Celtics needed. What a monumental waste of talent!

When you fall off a horse you need to get back on to re-establish control and eliminate fear of failure. In Olynyk's case when your offense goes south you need to KEEP SHOOTING! To enhance the chances of making shots you need to space the floor to get open looks. Be the 7' player who's a match-up nightmare for a defender. The facilitator role will always be there but STOP overpassing and look for your offense.

The players who now start all have an offense game better than Olynyks. Wallace as the 6th man is a great defender and occasional scorer. Olynyk needs to maximize his strenghts to better serve his team.....If only Brad Stevens gets wise......

Olynyk has put his offensive game on hold trying to fit in and contribute.  He will be much better in a year or so.  Sullinger is in full mode attack.
