AINGE EXPLAINS WHY SOME TEAMS ARE LOSERS (THATS YOU GOLDEN STATE)..HOW PHOENIX SUNS LOST OUT ON KOBE!

couldnt believe it when ainge confirmed that when he was with the suns front office in 1996, they heard that the lakers were interested in picking kobe at 13th after they made a trade to get that pick from sacemento (traded vlade divac), the celtics immediately went into counter-mode and the last minute offered the 15th pick plus an unrestricted #1 the following year to the warriors for the 12th pick. golden state absolutely shot it down because they had eyes on the now-legendary TODD FULLER! imagine that... no to a trade that could have helped them down the line and no to directly picking kobe. in the meantime, imagine if the suns were able to pull off that move and brought in KOBE?
then again with kobe there they likely would not have been able to draft nash in that 15th spot and get him familiar with the team and its fans to set up a future return from the mavs (left as a free agent). kobe would not have had a great time in phoenix in my opinion, plus we did not have a shaq to carry him to easy rings. it would have been interesting though. minus kobe, the lakers still would have won rings for shaq was and is still the key for the same reason. you cant go and draft or train a shaq but there are tons of good 6'6-6'8 swingman types out there. grant hill could have won with shaq, tracy mcgrady, clearly hardaway or nick andersen (oh yep, both wore his coattails to a finals appearance as kobe did) and so forth.
