In Response to Re: AINGE PERHAPS SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE PAPELBON APPROACH WITH PERK! : The Celtics may or may not win the title, but anyone who still insists that the Perk trade was good is delusional.  If they win it will be despite the Perk trade. On that we are unanimous.
    Posted by rayman7
hold up there mister. unanimous? it certainly isnt! lets see how ther playoffs play out. danny has put his entire career and this entire team on the line by making that high risk trade. i personally would not have made it. perk like shaq are more about the playoffs. its all about the half-court and owning the paint on both ends. perk owns the paint defensively. if jo plays out of his mind and stays healthy which is very possible and shaq gets healthy and can go 25 minutes (a maybe) as well as jeff green being locked-down defender and playing clutch with the big 3 down the stretch of games as posey did (very possible) then danny is the MAN and the trade was well worth it. we'll see! of course if we win it all, it was worth it. dumb to say otherwise. i have a sneaky feeling that danny has every intention to play green to close out games but did not want to show his hand during the regular season. he could have pp play the 4 on defense with guys like amare and let green play the 3. green is better than posey and that formula did not really come into play til the playoffs of that year. if for whatever reason we lose, esp if none if those 3 scenarios work out, then danny is a loser! its all or nothing! it didnt have to be that way but ainge went all in, hit or miss!

Perk may have not played but he was still one of the brothers of the starting five and best friend to a certain starting point gaurd.  Pierce said it himself on The Association that chemistry is something intangible but important.  Shaq played a bunch of those games when Perk was hurt and he was great.  Lets hope olde Man Shaq is there.
