Can't find any figures on the contract yet but just hope it wasn't for anything ridiculously low.

Battier will make a good defense a really good one.  Ouch.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Battier Taking His Talents to South Beach : The Heat also only have the 3m MLE, so most probably it's the vet's minimum that Battier agreed to.

That blows but maybe if we get CP3, then they'll be a lot more vets taking the min in Boston.

This is a good pickup for the Heat but this doesn't put them over the top by no means.  This just gives them another decent wing player.  They are going to be a tad better defensively on the perimeter from this pickup but Battier won't provide the offensive potential that a healthy Miller provides.

I don't see Bosh, Wade, Bron and Battier on the court together because they will NOT have any interior presence offensively or defensively.

This also really increases the number of wing players (Miller, James Jones, Battier, Bron).  A couple of these guys won't get any time.

We should try to get James Jones then.

Shane Battier is a class guy.  At this point in his career, it makes much sense for him to play for a team which has a chance to win the NBA Championship and to make as much money as he can?  He would have been a good fit for the Celtics the seasons Pierce, Allen and Garnett joined forces, but at this point I not sure Shane is the type of player the Celtics need.

Re: Battier Taking His Talents to South Beach

Battier would have been a good pickup had he come to Boston.  However, I believe bringing back Marquis Daniels, if he stays healthy, is as good a pickup for the Celtics.  Besides Battier being 2 inches taller and 2 years older, he and Daniels are very similar players who fill similar roles.  Where Battier is a better perimeter shooter, Daniels is more effective slashing to the basket.  Both are very adequate defensive players.  Both are very good, veteran role players.

We will probably see them on the court guarding each other at some point this season.

Great pickup for the heat. The heat just got better on the defensive while also addinga good 3 pt shooter.  Exactly what the cs could have used. (James Posey type)
