    Censorship: Antoine Walker discussion removed?

Unbelievable.  We tried to have an honest discussion. to flesh out the pros and cons of an Antoine return, and a couple of threads are subsequently taken down.  Is it now inappropriate to promote a point of view around here?  This is pathetic.

That is odd.  I thought it was a fair discussion of Twon with some valid points about the good things he did for us.  Who knows, maybe someone tacked a porno link onto it when nobody was looking and it got canceled for that.

These threads  aren't just moved. They are deleted.

Considering the garbage that is winked at and allowed to fester (think "Tainted Championship"), I am surprised at these thoughtful threads are removed.

I'm wasting my breath but...... EXPLANATION PLEASE!!!!

I'm not sold on Walker, but it is a valid point for discussion. If someone put something overly offensive on there, the mods should remove the post and not the thread.

why i agree it shouldn't have been removed, walker was DONE years ago, and even when he was here I didn't want him here as a sub 40% shooting pf who jacked 3's, refused to play in the post and wanted millions to do it. And the walker wiggle was a joke to watch.. It's time for those who did like his pathetic game to face reality.. He ate himself out of the league and walker isn't waddling through that door!

No worse a shooter than Mr. Injury Jermaine O'Neal, and no worse a player than also 33 year old Tim Thomas, who will likely get the vet min from 55 win Dallas.  And Walker looked far from done in the 07 playoffs, even though the media basically ignored it.  And if we are back in L.A. for another game 7 next year, you better believe we will miss having Antoine Walker--not only for the basketball, but for that positive and fiery energy during the 4th quarter timeouts when the L.A. crowd is at a fever pitch.... I've tried to show that this is NOT fluff, because Walker's positive impact has been demonstrated again and again and again on different teams.  Anyone have game 6 of the 06 finals on tape?

Oh well, I guess we aren't allowed to talk about him and that's a shame.

Yo Pud!  The last thing I wrote before the threads got taken down... you had mentioned that you have some of the 05 Celtics games on tape... just wondering which ones??  That Phoenix game was great shortly after the trade.  Man that was a fun time.  My motto is "never say never", if you had told me in 2004 that a year later Antoine Walker would be back with the Celtics I would have laughed at you!  NEVER even thought it was possible.

While there was certainly SOME valid discussion, what I read of the thread indicated that it had digressed into a blatant name-calling and "my opinion is better than yours" match. I was surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Talk to Meredith at BDC to get a read on what happened. Otherwise it is liable to happen again and again.

Re the VCR recordings after AW returned from the Mavs, my memory is a bit foggy but the C's went on a long win streak... to the point that I started recording the games for the first time that season.

I believe that I have(somewhere) most of that win streak.

should have posted this over here: Just some stats

    PP/AW Stats:

Toine avg'd about 32-33% on 3 pointers five of six yrs here with the one
outlier being the year PP arrived. During the five years they played together PP only shot the three exceedingly better than AW for two of those years with an overall avg of 34.5%. AW was clearly the better rebounder while PP was clearly the better FT shooter. Their overall FG% was about 40% for AW and about 43% for PPPP avg'd 24 PPG and AW 20 PPG ...

These numbers are very close to each other for the early years of their careers. There just isn't a huge difference in their stats - 2% on threes and 3% overall! Why a fan would castigate Walker for his play as compared to Pierce over the time they played together is just unjustified and speaks to an ignorance of the facts or other underlying reasons.

Re: Censorship: Antoine Walker discussion removed?

OB took over for Pitino in 2000-2001 season thru 2004. Coincidently that's the first year Antoine exceeded 300 attempts - here are the # of 3 pt attempts by Toine each year until he was traded and after:

    96-97' /> /> 159
    97-98' /> /> 292
    99-00' /> /> 285
    00-01' >> 603
    01-02' >> 645
    02-03' /> /> 582

In DAL for 03-04' he attempted 305
In ATL for 04-05' he attempted 268
In BOS for 04-05' he attempted  73
In MIA for 05-06' he attempted 383
In MIA for 06-07' he attempted 305
In MIN for 07-08' he attempted 188 (48 games)

The stats prove that Toine was only an egregious 3 Pt shooter under O'Brien so I call BS on all the posters that conveniently insinuate that AW tosses up threes at will. Just the facts ... now disprove the facts!

Although I am completely against the return of Walker and am not amused by the suggestion of the possibility, I don't believe the thread should be removed because of the topic.  The view that he could help is asinine, but anyone should be able to have a foolish idea without fear of censorship.  There are enough sane people here to argue against the notion without an intrusion from a moderator.  Or, maybe there were inappropriate posts that just couldn't be separated from the entire discussion.

I am too unless the C's try him out, he passes their physical and Danny thinks he's worthy. I wonder how teams/GM's feel about having a guy on their team who's in hock to the casinos. They may not be run by the mob these days but after what happened with the ref thing who really wants to expose themselves to that potentiality?

Who says that casinos are not run by the mob?  Didn't the Sopranos teach us anything?  You probably don't think there are vampires among us either. Or "V". Or werewolves. Or faeries. Or a Lakers' dynasty.  Alright, so maybe these things are indeed fantasy.

Listen, I have complete respect for those of you who are of the opinion that Antoine Walker can no longer help this team.  And while I think all of you are wrong, it's completely understandable.  And #8, even though you hadn't come right out and said it until now I assumed that you probably weren't on board with this idea either.  No problem, I get where you're coming from...

But when views are labeled "asinine", ideas are deemed "foolish" and there is talk of notions being argued down by the "sane"... with this kind of talk, all that you have provided are insights about yourself instead of the topic at hand.  Painter I'll do the work for you, it is completely asinine for 55 win Dallas to sign 33 year old Tim Thomas at the vet minimum.  Even though he's taller than Walker, only once in his career has Thomas averaged over 7 rebounds per 36 minutes (in 05-06 when he played for fast-paced Phoenix).  Last season in 18 games he averaged a pitiful 5.2 per 36.  He cannot match Walker's playmaking and ball-handling skills (and imo, winner's intangibles), and like Walker he can be a streaky 3 point shooter.  And it seems unlikely that he will be as determined and motivated as Antoine Walker.  Mark Cuban, it is completely asinine to sign Tim Thomas when Antoine Walker is still available, you had your chance at adding a player who has actually won an NBA championship and you blew it.  And Mikhail Prokhorov, it is foolish to sign Sean May when Antoine Walker is still available.

Hey, it's the PC thing to say ... doesn't mean I believe it, haha.

Now the money center banks are a different story. Where else do they take your money and pay you nothing in return? Then charge such usurious rates on a loan and huge fees to boot. Now that's mob-like and bloodsucking!
