Danny is dealing from the stronger position. He's looking to get the most he can for Doc

I love it. Danny didn't panic and take Jordan and one pick. The Clippers had a shot a title and threw it away in true clipper fashion. Goodbye CP3, good bye to being a real contender and having a real coach. WTG Sterling.

I just heard and Sherrod Blakely say that the Clippers blew it from the start. Danny maintained he wanted Doc to stay and then said the deal had to be the one they proposed in Feb. for Garnett -Jordan and Bledsoe.  They reneged and Danny asked for two number ones.  They only offered one first.  Doc has let his legacy in Boston go down the drain and we now have rebuild for years.

WTF?!?  There is no "dealing" Doc.  Doc wanted out, and will now leave... and Danny will get absolutely nothing for Doc.

and CP3 isn't leaving because the deal didn't do down. He agreed with the Clips mgmt.

and Garnett and Doc weren't the magic keys to the Clippers winning a championship.  They will look elsewhere for a better deal to land a big man.

There are a lot of teams that would want Doc's services. Danny isn't doing his due dilligence for this team if he doesn't get as much as possible in a trade and compensation for Doc. Don't blame Danny Doc signed the contract. Danny has every right not to get taken advantage of. Clips should have just given us two picks or taken Terry or Lee off our hands.

No. The Clips should not have given the Celtics two firsts and taken back a bad contract.  Doc isn't worth it.  Thats why the Clips didn't do it.  Its not another teams' responsiblity to fix Danny's blunders or Doc's career.

Your basic premise doesn't make any sense at all.  Danny isn't trying to find another team to take Doc.  Doc isn't looking for a new job.  He just wants out of Boston because he isn't very good coaching a team that doesn't have super star vets... I haven't heard of any other team even interested in him.  You'll see plenty of Doc as a broadcaster and Danny will be left with some retread journyman like Karl... and no draft choices nor players.  Danny failed.

Hey Debbie Downer .... So how come the Clips were prepared to pay Doc $35MM for 5 yrs as reported by the media if they really think Doc isn't worth it. Explain that!

Signing doc to a 5-year deal when our window was closing was a brilliant move. Lots of teams are interested in doc. And I don't think our exciting summer is over by any stretch. The clippers screwed up royally. It will cost them dearly.

ElDunker, That's the whole point. Doc has a deal that has a no compete kicker in it. It's either coach us, coach somewhere else and we get compensation or go back to tv for a lot less money.

They have a two year window to win now. They could have the right coach, Doc, the right compliment for Griffin, KG and the gaurantee of CP3 coming back, they might even be able to get Pierce in this deal for spare parts for a one year rental. We wanted Jordan, Bledsoe and two picks. They said no. We took Bledsoe out and said fine then take back one of Lee or Terry, they said no. If they want Doc they are going to have to pony up, that's how dealing from stregnth opposed to weakness works. So we should lose KG and our coach and get essentially nothing in return? No we shouldn't for a change good for DA!!!!!!!

The Clippers have to sign a good coach or Chris Paul won't agree to resign with them.  Doc isn't the only coach that they can sign but it has to be someone that Paul likes.  It was in their best interest to make sure that they signed a good coach.

THE DUKE .....the Clips will sign Hollins or Shaw and be just fine.... we are still left with this mess....if Doc comes back he HAS to play the younger players at this point....start Rondo, Bradley, Green, and Sullinger...bring KG & PP off the bench.....rotate Melo in there some how just to get him used to the NBA game..? ....we are not a title contender and everyone needs to grasp that....then we can begin rebuilding over the next few years....just my opinion...

Agreed Duke, whether Doc is here or not, with or without KG and PP, this franchise is now in the mode of getting younger, developing talent and shedding veteran salaries.

Taking on Jordan and his bloated, overpriced salary would actually hurt us in terms of cap space next summer. And he sucks for what he makes. Bledsoe was the key, since he might have made rondo expendable. No Bledsoe, no deal IMO.

You are right.  Jordan makes us worse considering he is replacing KG.  He costs more.  Younger means nothing when it is mediocre.

    Agree with everyone except elferdunks

The trade would not have been worth it for us without the two picks or a pick & bledsoe ... because Jordan is really THAT bad.

The summer is certainly not over but its looking more and more like they bring everyone back, with the lingering health issues and all the uncertainty and our history, I wouldn't be shocked if we get off to a rough start to the season, leading to more uncertainty around the trade deadline.

At the end of the day, KG prob feels he has more game left in him but doesn't want to be re-coached. Doc probably needs a break, but doesn't want to cause the end of KG's career. PP probably is torn between his legacy and a shot (for the first time ever) at free agency and another title. Danny wants to rehaul, rebuild, and needs high draft picks to do that.

In the end, life would have been simple if Doc, KG, and Paul rode off into the sunset.

Was that fan's name Sterling by any chance?

If so, that's not a good sign for our riverboat gambling GM, the one everybody here knows is holding the superior bargaining position.
