Delonte West Filed Paperwork To Join D-League

January 23 at 7:05pm CST By Zach Links

Free agent guard Delonte West has filed paperwork to join the NBA Developmental League, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com (on Twitter).  Ironically, the Texas Legends, affiliate of the Mavericks, are the first team in the waiver line (Twitter link).  Dallas cut West loose in November.

Earlier this week it was reported that the Grizzlies were giving serious consideration to signing West as they look to fill out their roster.  However, Stein (via Twitter) hears that Memphis are likely to pass on him.  The Lakers gave some thought to signing West at one point this season but they opted against it in an effort to maintain some level of stability.

i wonder why the big time gap b/t november and now?!

you would think that injury prone and all delonte would be an easy sign for any team.  he's not that old.  didn't seem crazy when we had him last.  but the inability to not do insane things and get injured screwed him up and hurt us too

+1.  I was and still am a fan of Delonte.  He's as hardnosed as they come.  Here's hoping he can put his issues behind him and save a little money for his post basketball life.  I'm rooting for you, Delonte.
