THIS deal is looking better and better. in danny i trust on this! perhaps rondo could b gone as well due to DA not being sold on his conduct. would think he would wait til later. twill could hold the fort for awhile esp if the goal is to lose. rr is box offfice.. we'll see.. if he werent injured, methinks rr would hae been packaged separately yesterday! so jeff green and sully will b the only stars.. wow!

Think about it, why would the Hawks lose their rights to the better pick between them and the Nets in the prior deal?  I makes no sense.

    In response to Fierce34's comment:

No, the Celts will get the worst, not the best of the picks.

    Here:

The picks that they'd net would be from 2014 (with some protections), 2016 (unprotected) and 2018 (unprotected). The Atlanta Hawks have the right to swap their 2014 pick with the Nets, meaning the Celtics would get the worse of the two picks.

thats what i thought. but according to espn, there was a glitch in the language that DA exploited and its been clarified that the CELTS will get the BEST. no lottery protection, we will get the lottery pick if ATL is there.beliee the language exempted things if a trade was made. protection only applied if nets kept the pick!

No link, no sources, just Commie being clueless and jumping the gun so he can scream something hysterically

    This is what ESPN says:

In 2014, Boston gets either Brooklyn's pick or Atlanta's pick, whichever is worse. And in 2017, Boston has the right to swap picks with Brooklyn, a source said.

When the Hawks land in the lotto, they won't be swapping picks with the Nets (duh) and so the Celts will get the worst of those two picks... meaning NJ's pick in the 20's.

No one can see the future. We have no idea where that pick will be. Plus, we get the better of the Nets or our 2017 pick. Ainge has done a brilliant trade. It reminds me of the Hershel Walker trade.

Even if there were language in the deal that nullified the swap provision if the pick is traded...

how would the language then flip so that the owner of the NJ pick can swap with Atlanta instead?

    Makes no sense.

    hahaha

since when did CC ever make sense of a situation?

We have no idea where the pick will land next year for sure. We can reasonably say it will be between 20-27 though. In the East I see the Heat, Pacers and Bulls (if Rose is healthy) all being better. In the west I see the Thunder being better for sure... then the wild cards are SA (obv older), the Grizz and Warriors (can playoff success be duplicated over the long reg season?) and Clippers/Nuggets (what will Doc and Shaw do to help?).

At best there could be 9 teams better than the Nets. At worst 3. I'm expecting the pick to be like 24 or 25. Still VERY useful in a DEEP draft. The Jazz turned 14 and 21 into 9 last night. Maybe next year if we're stuck in that 7-10 range and want a player in the 2-5 range (obv nobody will trade out of #1) we can use all this draft currency to get there.
