rondo was not and is not a "true PC", he was a true narcissist who guzzled down his personal time with the rock as a way to shield and shirk his obsolescence the second that he passes that ball away.
in past years, rondo would bring the ball up the floor, swing the ball and then go spend the rest of the posession WAAAAAY in the corner trying to drag his man out of the paint to keep him from gumming up the works on ray running routes or a post play that SOMEONE ELSE WAS RUNNING at the other side of the floor (a/k/a not rondo, the point guard).
in the last two years, rondo has taken to NEVER RELINQUISHING THE BALL AND cutting away from it in the half court set- also known as dominating the ball. hence the uber predictable swing the ball around the perimeter so we can play catch with rajon so he doesn't feel bad about having to go stand in the corner.
THAT, what i say above in that paragraph is not "being a true point guard" that's being a true nitwit that is short circuiting your team, ruining the pace and foisting all the scoring duties on KG, Pierce when there were and are other able scoring pieces here.
the team is encountering a renaissance OF THOSE OTHER SCORERS GETTING TO BE ABLE TO CARRY THE BURDEN OF SCORERS right now and KG and Pierce not having to do all of the work and receive the ball in late shot clock situations at that to "make their move"...... so the team is really "up" and juiced over how much better the offense is running.
however, that is not going to get the job done in the playoffs / against good teams for extended periods. we need a point guard who is a TRIPLE THREAT- shoot, pass, dribble/drive. rondo is a 1 threat point guard- pass. very predictable and he abdicated his role of dribble driving- ESPECIALLY THIS YEAR that he decided (in a somewhat wilt-like manner) that he was going to be BETTER AT FREE THROWS by not taking as many!!!
this is all a cluster of symptoms of narcissism = i'll do what's best for me rather than what's best for the team. the pure point guard does the opposite. on an aged team with SEVERAL VIABLE YOUNG PIECES, up-tempo is what's best for the team!!! also, rondo scoring 16-20 a night is what's best for the team!! if KG and pierce only have to mule up 12 points a game each for the regular season then that's AWESOME at their age and games played.
but look at pierce. 40 or 41% field goals and obviously being overused. that's not what's best for the team. KG has bounced back quicker without rondo but not paul is saddled with point guard duties so he hasn't.
i hope that explains it all for ya
