Stevens quote after the Knicks game earlier in the week:

“Very little brain power put to it,” Stevens said. “All a vision of, ‘Hey, that guy’s really in a nice groove.’ Vitor made a huge three, made a huge catch-and-finish with a minute to go, but more than anything I felt like we had rim protection at a pretty good level down in the paint with him in the game and we were also rebounding.

Vito can shoot and finish..Asik cant..Vito has better hands...Asik is a stiff..Vito will catch up to that "First" Defensive team you claim Asik to be in...

Not sure you how can defend from the bench but I'm sure it takes great skill.

Fav is not our best defender, but for a first year in the NBA he is good and improving.  The guy has a ceiling by he can at his size be a good piece on some team.

"The team saw what Fav did early in the season, coach Stevens stated Fav had been their best defender, then they started sitting him to give Oly minutes and showcase Bass and Hump who are up for trade."

If that's the case then the Celts really are tanking this season, huh?

I mean why sit your best defender if you're not tanking?
He is already better than Asik

So you would try to move fav?  Think that's enough opportunity for oly to get minutes To develop?

    No need to move Fav.

    Just move Bass and Humpy.
Bass is number one priority to move. Humphries and his expiring contract can hang around all year for all I care.

Fav was groomed in Spain, and he plays that way. Decent finesse for a big, but little physicality particularly on defense.  He will never morph into a Perk or Sully as a banger but maybe like Pao Gasol become a better positional defender. He is still a liability on defense, hence his limited runs.

Re: Faverani is our best defender

He's more "opportunistic" than the beast defender he needs to be. His help defence is weak unless the play is conning directly at him. That's the Euro-to-NBA transition any number of centers and others have had difficulty with. Generally they aren't strong enough or can they endure the up and down game unless they just run between the 3-point lines.
