You know, there is no excuse for the Celtics letting LA close this game on an 8-0 run.  We just don't have that "go to" guy who we can count on for a clutch late-game basket. To battle so hard and "give" it away at the end because of our failure to execute is disappointing.  This team cannot seem to start strong or close strong.

Pierce has really fallen off from his go to status.  He has good games but rarely does he step against the Lakers at the end of a game.

We need a big man who can put back shots. Varajeo is the kind of player we need someone who can keep the ball alive on the offensive end.

A regular poster here claims Pierce is clutch and Rondo anti-clutch ... has he been watching the games lately or driving around aimlessly in Syria?

In response to "Re: Game Thread: Celtics vs Lakers":
In Response to Re: Game Thread: Celtics vs Lakers : i understand that he has had problems with him..World Peace is a very good defender, used to be great. like i said, my issues arent with his numbers. if he would have tried to get going against him and WP just shut him down with good D, thats different. Pierce got the ball, dribbled at the top of the key deciding whether or not to drive, then would pass it off. he wanted NO PART of the ball, NO PART of the game. it was a joke. Posted by JamezHill24
Yes, The Captain didn't have his fire today. But, we still had a chance. Just couldn't hit a shot. For all of our discussion about Pierce, what the players did or did not do, Doc play calling at the end ( which wasn't bad...Lakers just defended well), the REAL issue is with our GM. Danny gets the players and let's face it, he has put the team in a position of being all jumpshooters. He has counted on old broken down guys, traded for people with a history on injuries, and put a small team on the floor. Think about it folks - we are now relying on an NBDL player to be key to our center position. Danny, you've really failed your fans, your coach, and your players!

Exactly, you need someone to orchestrate the play... like piertrus is going to do that??

We need a big man who keeps the ball alive on the offensive end. We have not had one for five years since this era started. DA has to be crazy not to have gone out and got a Varajeo  type player. Perkins was not this type of player.  I am talking about a player who can offensive rebound and score when open.

By the way Varajeo must be close to coming back from his injury.
In Response to Re: Game Thread: Celtics vs Lakers : Jamez, in 2008 the Celts won a championship when Pierce was Finals MVP and Luke Walton and Radmanovic were the ones guarding Pierce. In 2010 the Lakers got Artest and the Celts were not able to beat the Lakers. Artest is just taller and stronger than Pierce. Pierce always struggles against taller SFs because Pierce can't elevate high enough to shoot over them. That's the reason why Pierce is a 2nd tier superstar. It is what it is.

not hearin it Fierce, he also went AT one Lebron James. tall enough for you?
With 1:31 remaining Ray missed a 3-pointer that would have given the Celts a 6 point lead. Ray missed again on a jump shot with 59.9 secs remaining, Celts still leading by 1. Bass missed a jump shot with 34.9 secs remaining, that would have given the Celts back the lead. With 2.9 secs remaining Pierce's 3-pointer got blocked by Kobe but the Celts got the ball back and Rondo missed a 3-pointer with 1 second left.  Notice the pattern? EVERYTHING IS FROM THE OUTSIDE!

Are you serious?? They were down by 3 with seconds left ... so theyre not suppose to be taking jump shots?

Yes.  Paul Pierce is the only guy who can create his shot.  Rondo can't be trusted to take and make clutch shots.  Ray Allen needs help to get open.  But Paul's mid range game gets negated against the Lakers.  It is not just Artest.  It is Artest coupled with the shot blocking threat.  Paul would have been able to handle just of the two.

Clearly, the biggest need is getting bigger/physical in the paint.  But I don't see how Danny can pull it off.  At this point in the season, you can't break up the rotation.  So that leaves only junk and spare parts for Danny to play with.

We don't have that big guy and it's Danny who is to blame. I'm amazed at the disappointment posters express about the coach, the players, and between us fans when ONLY ONE PERSON CAN FIX IT - Danny.

You're not saying Gasol owned KG in 2010, and Perk went down.
PP took over game 5 in 2010. You're point is not sound.
