Here is a 3 team trade that works well for everyone

    Celtics get:

    Chris Paul - 16.4m
    Chris Kaman - 12.2m
    Trevor Ariza - 6.8m

Taking on 35.4 million, need to give up 23.5 million to satisfy new 150% of salaries rule. Only Ariza is signed past this year so they can sign both Dwight and CP3 to max deals.

    Hornets get:

    Avery Bradley - 1.5m
    Eric Bledsoe - 1.6m
    Al-Farouq Aminu - 2.8m
Big Baby Davis - signs a deal of at least 6 million for '12 (if Green is just qualifying offer) or maybe a little less and long-term if Green is signed and traded for more than the 6m.

    Boston's 2012 1st rd pick
Two future 1st rd picks of the Clippers

New Orleans saves a little bit of money swapping out Jack/Ariza (who they only got to convince Paul to stay) in exchange for local boy Big Baby (who takes West/Landry's PF spot) they have to field a roster at least and he'd draw some fans as they rebuild.

Aminu, Avery, Bledsoe and the 3 picks represent 6 young assets, all under 22, they get for Paul as they rebuild from the bottom up and hit the lotto. Guys like Bynum/Odom just makes them a team with draft picks in the teens paying big money.

    Clippers get:

    Rondo - 10m
Jeff Green - (either the 6m qualifying or long-term S&T would work)
    Jarrett Jack - 5m

Clippers give up 16.6m and take on 21-24 million.

Rondo throwing lobs to Jordan, Green and obviously Griffin while Gordon shoots his sweet J will be pretty awesome and their lost draft picks (including the one they owe us that we still keep) will be in 15-25 range over the next 5 years.

They have to trade one of Mo Williams, Randy Foye and Jack for another big man to backup Griffin/Jordan (they'd just have Gomes), but any of those guards would work in tandem off the bench or as the crunch time PG if Rondo doesn't improve his shot/ft shooting.

We could take Foye (exp contract) for JON. Not sure who I would rather have.

Re: Here is a 3 team trade that works well for everyone

Celtics team would look like this after trade:

    C - Kaman, Jermaine
    PF - KG, Johnson
    SF - Pierce, Ariza
    SG - Ray, Moore
    PG - Paul

We'd have the 3 million mini-MLE to spend on a guard, Delonte is likely... he can play both guard spots and we could field a rotation with him behind Paul for 12 minutes then also backing up Ray (along with Pierce).

Ariza can play a lot of SF ad guard LeBron/Melo/Deng... resting Pierce and letting him play some SG (thus resting Ray). Then we fill-in the roster with Powe/Daniels veteran minimum types.

So we are non-taxing paying now....

So that means based on what would happen post-trade we would become a taxpaying team and therefore are restricted to just 125%?

Well Rondo with Green ad Baby sign and trades still works for CP3 and Ariza.

But we'd need both decent PG and big man to sign with us and one could take the 3 million mini-mle but the other would have to take the vet minimum

    Darn

    CP3's 16.4 and Ariza 6.8 is 23.2

That is 125% more than 18.8 million

    Rondo is 10m

    Green's offer is 5.9

So Baby would have to sign for only 2.9 million to do such a deal... and he will have to be signed for more...

    So that such deal works

Battier or Prince for the 3 million

Foster, Delonte, Daniels and Powe at the veteran minimum

    Another option is:

    CP3 and Okafor - 29 million

    Rondo - 10
    Green - 5.9
    Avery - 1.5
    Jermaine - 6.2

    23.6

    125 % above 23.6 is 29.5

    juuuuuusst works.

Amnesty Okafor if you have a shot at Howard. Send 2 future 1st rd picks (but no the Clips pick) as well.

Pierce and JuJuan Johnson would just cost 18 million next year. We could sign CP3/Howard AND have a lil spare change to boot.

Paul and Dwight would have to decide if they want to pair with Pierce, Johnson, a 1st rd pick likely in the teens and whatever we can use the two MLE's for.

Ray and KG could return for veteran minimum deals and/or the MLE's.

That is likely better than the core they would join on any other team with 40 million in cap space.

[QUOTE]As long as we get to see this line-up: C -  ???  PF - KG SF - Pierce SG - Ray PG - CP3 I don't care who plays Center. CP3 would automatically make the Celtics a contender again.

Well yes of course... worst case scenario is Jermaine

Re: Here is a 3 team trade that works well for everyone

Everyone points to Bias but those Celtics were screwed by Red not drafting Tim Hardaway and not trading McHale for Detlef Schrempf and a 1st rd pick (that could have been Vlade Divac or Shawn Kemp) but instead trading Ainge for Joe Kliene and Ed Pinckney.

A team that looked like this...

    C - Parish, Divac
    PF - Bird, Schrempf
    SF - Lewis, Gamble
    SG - Ainge, Brown
    PG - Hardaway, Shaw

...would have put at least 3 excellent athletes, 4 excellent 3 point shooters and passers and 5 excellent overall shooters on the floor at all times.

A few minor tweaks would have happened but at the very least we'd have had 2 fun as h#ll East finals vs. the Bulls before Bird retired (or maybe we we smart enough to rest him and he made it an extra year) and Lewis collapsed.

And Xavier/Abdelnaby were not the most tragic contracts that killed a rebuilding team in my opinion.

It was Pervis Ellison, Dominique and Dana Barros that were signed to idiotically make us a team drafting in the teens and taking Antoine 6th over a team drafting in the top 10 in 94/95 and top 3 in 96/97.

Yes, it would have been neat to give the old big 3 some sort of duo like Hakeem/Mitch Richmond, Ewing/Hardaway or David Robinson/John Stockton back in 1991 and seen what their last 2-3 years of their careers looked like.

That is what I have been saying for two weeks - include Okafor in the deal, and they think they would do it!!  Andk KEEP him, DH will not come here!!

    Okafor - 13.5
    Pierce - 16.5
    Johnson - 1.5

gives us something like 16 million in cap space next year if CP3 were to bail on us.

We'll likely have the Clippers pick, full MLE to use after the cap space...

but without any of top couple of free agents (the 3rd best PG is Reymond Felton) we couldn't build a team that would get out of the 1st rd.

Vander Weide confirmed that he made a 1 a.m. phone call in recent days to Magic superstar Dwight Howard, and Howard thought Vander Weide may have been intoxicated. On that call, Vander Weide told Howard how much the Magic wanted to keep him in Orlando.  "I was playing paddle with friends and had a couple of glasses of wine," Vander Weide told BHSN.  "Maybe Dwight thought it was inappropriate to talk business after a couple of glasses of wine... Maybe I should have waited until the morning."

That sounds ominous ... especially when your CEO resigns shortly after the incident!

In fact, this explains why Ainge is willing to trade for Paul w/o the extension in hand ... time is of the essence and to land DH, Ainge must get Paul first ... Paul is to Howard as Allen is to KG. A decision has been made in Orlando and there's no going back ... If Ainge fails to land Paul then it's onto Plan B.
