    How about Pierce as point/forward?

He did a much better job against Miami than Rondo would ever have done.

Pierce does a good job with that in half court sets no doubt.  He isn't going to be getting them out on breaks though.

He also has been a TO machine late in games he is not who he used to be. No disrespect to him

What are you smoking? THAN RONDO WOULD EVER HAVE DONE?

Go back and watch the playoffs last year against miami.

Rondo averaged a near triple double not just for 3 games, but the entire 7 game series.

Rondo was our edge against miami, they have no1 to stop him.

Im all for the optimistic approach your taking, but you cant actually believe that!!

The less Pierce handles the ball, the better off we are!!

YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING . PP IS A TURNOVER MACHINE RIGHT NOW AT THIS STAGE . YEAH HE WILL HAVE MOMENTS OF GRAND PLAY BUT IF U CANT SEE THAT HE HAS LOST MORE THAN JUST A STEP THEN YOUR NOT LOOKING. HE HAD CRITICAL TURNOVERS IN THE MIAMI GAME UNFORNTUNATELY HE IS NOT MORE THAN A 20 MINUTE A NITE GUY AT THIS POINT. I THINK WE ALL THOUGHT KG WOULD BE FIRST TO REALLY DWINDLE BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS . DOC IS NOT HELPING THE SITUATION WITH EXTENDED MINUTES FOR PIERCE WHILE GREEN IS STARTING TO BALL!!!

    Umm, no.

Last year the Celts took the Heat to seven games in no small part due to Rondo.

That said I will grant you that Pierce can sometimes be better than Rondo in a half court set as a point forward, but remember Pierce can't play those kinds of minutes every night. Forcing Pierce to be a distributor may have a side benefit of stopping him from shooting bricks. But, if the other guys shooting can't hit their shots it could raise other problems.

Also good to keep in mind Pierce can't run a fast break like Rondo so you can forget about easy transition baskets.

But again a nuanced understanding of this eludes those who want to either worship or bury Rondo.

Meant to give the nod to Snake for pointing out the fast break thing before I did but since we can't edit posts anymore...

I hope the Rondo bashers are looking forward to a lot of 80 point games as we'll have to win games by scores of 80-76 now. Should be lots of fun to watch.

Total agreement. Have somebody else bring the ball up and let Paul run the offense.
